How to get weapons from House of Judgment packages
I almost rage quit after getting 10+ class item in a row from Variks after suffering through PoE/CoE.
I have received weapons in all but one package since I started using this method. I've opened another 10+
1) Create a lot of vault space. This is the most difficult part
2) Equip your highest light gear in every slot except the primary weapon
3) Equip a significantly lower light weapon in the primary slot. I use the Stranger's Rifle
4) Store every other item on your character in the vault. This includes ghosts and artifacts
5) Make sure to have the 3-9 class items Variks sells in your vault
6) For good measure, go to orbit
7) Return to the reef and go directly to Variks to collect your weapon
Yes, smart loot actually does work in this instance. The method is successful on my account. We all know that every Destiny account does not act the same.
If you keep getting class items, give this a try. What do you have to lose?
Edit - as soon as I posted this, sure enough, three class items in a row. Interesting. I can cross PoE and CoE off the list of things to do.

6 RepliesI've been saving legendary and exotic engrams for the dlc, my vault currently has 68 armor engrams and 4 weapon.... so yeah, glad i'm not the only one that feels that the drops are lopsided

Does work for me, 3 out of five times. Take last two times ranking up FWC, had all but special weapon at 335, got two fusions in a row. Coincidence? Rng? The other day ranked up vanguard, same deal finally got Ldr with near perfect roll. But next rank up with vanguard got heavy MG. So it doesn't work every time but doing this did increase my chances of getting want I was after. Same goes for DO and HOJ. But it seems like HOJ drops have been ninja kicked in a ball sack. But hey, sooner or later Bungie will screw with every single weapon we love and it will become useless. Our one way feedback doesn't seem to be heard. Good job Bungo!!! #sarcasm

It seems to me to be foot>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>helmets and arms>>>>>>>chest~=special>heavy>>>>>>primary. This seems true with end-of-game drops, exotic engrams, and faction rewards. In each of these, I've seen a heavy, heavy slant toward boots, followed by varying ratios of the others. Primary is by far the least common. In the last ~2 months, I've had about 30-to-1 on boots to primary in all modes (red death, hawk moon, jade, a single eyasluna, a queen pulse, and treads upon compared to more than 140 boots), with heavies being next least common. Special and chest are about the same (with a possible slant to special on legends ties and a chest slant for exotics). Ghosts hardly appear at all, and almost all non-raid or Banner class/artifacts are non-existent except blue Prison rewards.

2 RepliesDoesnt work. Tried that numerous times, still got class items. This was disproved months ago when people tested smart loot. It only trys to raise the light level of what drops from the packages, so if your 320 with 335 arms, it still can give you 321 arms because it is higher than your current light level.
