Joining Matches In Progress: SIMPLE SOLUTION

Agree

255

Disagree

101

Tired of joining matches in progress? Here is my simple solution; If a player leaves a match on purpose before the match has ended they will only be put into a match in progress for their next game. (Perhaps the same one if they're habitual quitters) This will balance the amount of matches in progress that players will be matched in to.(except the quitters will obviously be placed into more matches in progress) Also it will be a slight punishment for those who feel it's okay to constantly leave a game as soon as you start losing. Be a man(or woman) and stick it out and take the loss. You can't win them all. Agree or Disagree please. If you disagree please expand on it in the comment section below. Stay True Guardians!

This is actually kinda unintuitive. It means that people who leave matches can now "channel surf" for a match they like best. They'd be the only ones the system rewards. How about if quitting mid-match brought you up a tier in the SBMM for ten minutes? Upvote if you get what I'm saying, comment if you need me to expound on it.

  • No that's a stupid idea. If I leave lobby infested with lag and Aids, it's not because I wanna join another match with lag and Aids but halfway through.

    • I say if you leave a competitive match you are banned for 10-15 minutes. If its regular crucible, 5 minutes. I play rocket league alot and in competitive it helps a ton. I wish they would put it in regular play as well but they want to keep it very laid back and I can understand that.

    • Honestly, if I get midmatched or I don't like how the game is going, I try to focus on completing bounties. I don't leave games unless there is too much lag. It never boils down to winning or losing because even when you lose, you still get crucible and faction rep. I don't understand why anyone would waste their time queuing up matches all day just to leave.

    • Blizzard just launched competitive mode for Overwatch. If you leave a match, you cannot join another until the match you left completed. After repeated episodes, they lock you out for increasing time until you get a season ban. You also get sanctioned for inactivity. Bungie, plz, do this

      • I agree, but they should get a freebie for leaving one match before reset. Sometimes things can come up and you have to deal with them; so you have to leave the game and put down the controller.

          • This is actually a pretty great idea. Too much work for them to implement though, I'm sure.

I agree but I've also been preaching another thought: Quitters should get negative rep and/or a several min "cooldown" before being able to join another match. Over 20 or so quits during a week should lock a player out of crucible til next reset. (I know they won't do this cause its unfavorable to a decent amount of the player base who wouldn't return after being locked out). Joining and staying with a match in progress should reward the player with additional rep points, winning said match should reward even more rep. Crucible and/or faction rep, whatever seems most fair.

If I'm forced to play laggers because of Bungies ridiculous matchmaking: I leave. If I'm forced to play 6 man fireteam idiots: I leave. If I'm forced to play games I'm not enjoying: In leave. If I'm forced to play campers with snipers unwilling to leave their spawns: I leave. If I'm forced to play Godlike players who I have no chance of killing: I leave. Last but not least: If I'm joining a game in progress: I leave. I payed as much money to enjoy this game as you did. People leaving your sweaty game? Your problem, not mine. Punishing people for leaving games they don't like for various reasons is beyond stupid.

                • Works for me. I never quit unless live demands it. Which is rarely because I play at night or when my family isn't around. Besides, many of the in-progress games I've joined go on to be wins or close losses. Which is exactly what is hope for. The only problem we might increase by penalizing quitters is idle players, standing in the spawn jiggling the controller just enough to stay in the game. The restrictions on idling would need to tighten up too.

                • Simple solution, would be like overwatch or the heroic strike playlist. Make it rewarding to stick it out. Give players a buff for staying in consecutive matches so it isnt appealing to leave as quickly. Dont punish people, just give them incentive for staying. I am a die hard of plowing through even if i am the only person left and its 3v1. My kd suffers because of this, but i dont quit. I often wonder why i do this, i think it might be my competitive side wants to run the table on them but almost always i get destroyed. Bottom line, just make the continuos matches rewarding and people will be more inclined to stay in. Also fix the freaking connection system and get dedicated servers!!!!

it should put you back in the game you left constantly and not allow new one before that one is finished

                • Great idea. The only problem is how will it work? What if a player leaves a game and they shut off their console. It won't reapply balance it completely but it's still a great idea.

                  • I would suggest if you bail out for any reason, you should have to restart your console to continue in pvp. That way, it's not too extreme for the ones who occasionally have to leave for legit reasons but it makes it aggrivating as hell to those who constantly do it.

                    • I disagree. Anybody who quits a match or disconnects should receive a minimum of 1 hour ban from the Crucible. If they leave more than 10 matches in a span of any 20 consecutive games, ban them for one month. If anybody leaves 20 consecutive matches, ban them from the Crucible forever.

                      • I have to disagree because while most of the time it is unacceptable and annoying, sometimes life happens. You should be penalized for repeatedly leaving matches. Like 3 in a row, or 4 out of 10 left

                      • I disagree. Here's why. Said player could have just left the match due to outside matters. Such as the pizza man arriving, parents have to take care of their child or other reasons. Another reason is leavening those punishment matches and constantly be getting games in progress.

                        • That would be fine with me. I only do the daily crucible for the marks. I would leave as soon as I got in and would enjoy being put into a match that was further along. I might even leave multiple times just to get to a match that is even further along. Sooner I get my marks and I'm done, the better.

                        • You should get 1 freebie quit until reset or until you play X amount of games (maybe 5-10), then your "pass" reinstates. If you keep quitting: 15 minute cool down, 30 minute cool down, locked out till reset. That would give you 3 times you can quit without any meaningful playtime invested. The aforementioned "pass" would not reinstate if you are issued a cool down penalty. The main hurdle would be how to handle honest bungie networking issues vs. user end exploiting.
