OK so i checked out the store page for the new destiny DLC and it says it requires taken king, what the... where is any deal the includes previous game dlc? I skipped out on TK but have all of year one so (if there is not going to be a bundle deal like in TK) why is there none (i would not mind paying 50ish$ for both) it just seems that they are going to be dwindling their fan base more by forcing the players who did not want TK to buy it just for this Dlc (dlc for dlc thats what this is lol)., With that said while there is still time to cement more payment options for not just the non TK players who may want back in but all players who left between any dlcs. Bungie should hears us and makes sure if they are doing this requires previous expansion thing they need to have more deals for every player who wants to buy the expansion now or later. side note for anyone who DID NOT buy the taken king are you interested in getting the next dlc

  • Well taken King wasn't a dlc. Taken King was an expansion we all had to buy the new disc or download a totally new game file. They even a collector's edition for it and a special PS4 ttk is almost an entirely brand new game and it's not the same as destiny 1 when ttk released so much had changed in the game it was insane so. Ttk is its own game hence why you must own it to have a dlc for Ttk game

    • @9.99 at gamestop - you get the disc with all the things Vanilla, Dark Below, House of Wolves and Taken King PS4 - I would hazard a guess that X-bone is similar pricing

      • I've had to explain this before, but I'll do my best doing it here again. Basically, Bungie stuffed themselves up right from the start. They released TDB and it included a light level increase from 30 to 32, not too bad, but you'll understand why this is bad soon. This meant there was a progression from the core game to TDB content. However, at the same time, they allowed players to essentially skip core end game content (Vault of Glass) to level straight past 30 and into 31+. Next came HoW and again, they added a light increase from 32 to 34. Now it's bad, why? Because now we're not talking about DLC, we're talking about expansions. And notice, Bungie have always used the term 'Expansion'
Now you have a progression from the core game to TDB and on to HoW, that progression being in the form of the light increase. But again, they pushed TDB end game back allowing yet again, players to skip most of it and move into HoW. Now this is where TDBs progression is bad, because instead of having all expansions running parallel to each other, they're sequential, meaning that you can not progress straight from the core game in HoW without first accessing TDB. They then went on to make things worse with TTK, they push back the entirety of year one further back, lift the light level again, and allow players to start TTK without even playing a Y1 strike. Again there's a progression from core to TTK, but now TDB and HoW blended into the core game as 'Y1'. Rise of Iron will do the same thing, it'll increase the progression from TTK rather than run parallel to it but at the same time it'll push TTK further down. It's because of this progression and expansion that Rise of Iron must also require both Y1 expansions and TTK, because without them the progression is broken, you'd literally not be able to progress from the core game to Rise of Iron without going through the earlier expansions in one way or another. I hope this explains it somewhat.

        • You say you're willing to pay around $50 for the full bundle. You can get TTK right now for $30. And another $30 for RoI. It's a little more than $50, but not by much.

          • Cause it's has items that will prob still be from TTK available....if u choose not to keep up with any game don't expect the future content to cater to you.

          • Taken King was $40, Destiny with TTK+HoW+TBD was $60. I'm sure they'll have a similar deal with RoI.

                  • Because all game manufacturers expect that you own stuff to play an expansion. Some don't require full sequential ownership such as FO4 but others do like blizzard and bungie games.

                  • I can explain why this is the case, in TK they brought back things for "free" (prison of elders, Omnigul, Taniks) They require consumers to have had those dlc's first or else they are giving consumers legitimate free stuff, I understand your pain but profits come first to most publishers and investors. However I can say TTK is pretty good, not as good as HoW in my opinion but better than Dark Below and Base Game, again in my opinion. I will say, though not as bad now, it is extremely hard to level without people to play with.

My friend bought the dlc's We share systems ( I have his account as primary and he has mine as primary on his system) so that's how I got TDB,HoW,and TTK But since he doesn't play destiny anymore I doubt I'll be able to play rise of iron if that's the case then I'm cool with it more time on other games and more study time

                      • That's how progressive games are... Look at World of Warcraft (one of the most successful games of all time) if you were to start playing right now for the first time, you would have to buy the base game, as well as every expansion ever released in order to play all the relevant shit. You can't pick and choose what expansion you wanna play and you sure as hell couldn't even level up to max level

                          • They should bundle all the DLCs together or make a TTK ROI bundle for people to pick up in case they havne't gotten TTK yet but there is no reason for it to not require TTK. TTK was the latest expansion if you didn't play it thats your fault you can just skip out of an entire expansion that you didn'w want to play then expect to get ROI. ROI is after TTK so its only natural that you need it in order to play it. This is especially true if there is TTK content in ROI having it not require TTK would mean that no content in the TTK could be present in ROI.

                          • I don't have TTK, I however considered buying ROI, that is until I saw "requires TTK expansion". The reason I chose not to buy it is not because of the money (TTK is only £20 so hardly going to break the bank), but the ethics behind the whole "requires TDB, HOW and TTK". Bungie have essentially made the choice for you: "buy all dlc or be left out altogether". If you look at TTK, it requires both TDB and HOW expansions, however none of that content is relevant and nobody plays the missions, even the old raids are completely pointless, some will choose to play solely for the nostalgia, other than that there is no reason. Using this, we can conclude all/most of TTK content will become irrelevant, yet you'll need to fork out for it to play ROI.

                            • Its not about money, it is about the experience you will experience though the dlcs. By now you should had done everything all the dlcs. By not having those dlcs you miss the point why guardians keep on fighting. Ex house of wolves you would know why the fallen went to the vault, they want revenge for Skolas. They are desperate, the house winter are lost. I was helping a player who didn't care about the storyline it was a awful experience. End result he was confused afterwards about the story because he skip the cutscenes Lore, dlcs, cutscenes are important if you want to understand the storyline and future content Ex taken king scan in the code mission of ttk stated an unknown enemy awoke Resputin This was before us: Meaning siva came from Resputin In the trailer look at the area it was trap, the same design as Resputin If you skip all lore, story, dlcs and cutscenes you would had not known this important fact, which can be important to Rise of Iron.
