Only way sbmm can work is with servers, it wont work right without it. Connecting to players internationally with your skill level but with a uncertain level of connection wont benefit the community in terms of keeping players from having to play a bunch of noobs. With invincible players who appear and disappear and players not taking hits even though they were clearly shot, it wont work efficiently. So yeah, defend it as much as you like, but without a server you dont have much of a leg to stand on.

And yet, in a game like Destiny, SBMM is an absolute necessity. Regardless of dedicated servers or not, SBMM is a must. I hope Bungie gets those servers soon, but if they don't, they better not get rid of SBMM.

So you'd prefer people having unstable connections all over the place but hey we got the same skill level. That makes no sense sacrifice a stable game setting with good hit detection and people literally disappearing and reappearing. It'd be better to have a solid connection first before having it based around skill where the connection is terrible.

I seem to remember unstable gameplay in year 1 too. It was rampant. In fact, it was so bad, it was the number 1 complaint about PVP. Everyone was asking, begging for dedicated servers in year 1. Now, only the top players experience this horrible connection. I'm sorry to hear that. But it's better than the entire community experiencing these bad connections, which is what we had in year 1. Now, only the top players are begging for dedicated servers (they should still happen). The rest of us are having a great time. I realize this Machiavellian, but is it better to give stable gameplay to the majority, or give unstable gameplay to everyone? Bungie should get dedicated servers, but until then, SBMM is an absolute necessity.

I was a late year 1 player and yes there was issues with lag but not like it is now. I see a definite difference between those two periods. And Im sorry but sbmm does not serve the overall general publics needs. As I stated prior, when you have connection based around skill as opposed to the players with similar connections to the internet the quality of the match suffers regardless of skill level. And yes, Im all in favor of a server being established, if not before, definitely destiny 2, but with the option to play casual or against players at or a bit above your skill level. But no server means this wont work, and cant be successfully implemented. I dont know how much clearer it can be said skill being how matches are organized, gathered and teams made up, uneven connections all around will not create a great match to get involved in.

Then we'll agree to disagree.
