Why does this always seem to be the case?

A quick apology Sorry for potato quality, old, box tv + cheap phone cam = burnt, mashed potatoes w/o any butter, cheese, bacon, sour cream, green onions/chives (your preference), salt, or pepper Jokes aside: A little background Let me start this by saying; I've been playing crucible nearly nonstop since the beta. Now I'm not a pro, sweaty, competitive skirmish/elimination 24/7 dude. I play a little trials, Iron Banner when it comes around, doubles when it swings by, and other than that, I stick to control (<-- Favorite game mode, stats reflect it pretty clearly) and if I feel like it, rumble, clash, and the occasional mayhem. That said, I've dealt with a lot of lag (who hasn't?). So I think I can notice the differences between someone who may be on wifi or has a weak signal, compared to someone who is likely tampering with their connection. The game Everyone in the lobby had a connection bar that was green. Some were full, others fluctuated. I saw one person get down to yellow once during the match. But on the top of the enemy team was a player with red connection that stayed red constantly throughout the match. I got into multiple weapon engagements with Mr. Red bar, only to find that he would skip around every couple seconds, my shots wouldn't land when he was clearly hit, and his shots seemed to land flawlessly. My Connection Just so I dont get the "Buy better internet" comments (which I'm sure I will regardless), my internet is considered okay. Fine for gaming for the most part. I live in a well populated city, about five minutes from downtown. I only connect my system through Ethernet or "wired" to ensure I get full strength. My wire is directly connected to my modem. I have a router for Wi-Fi, but I don't plug any systems up to it via Ethernet. I pay for the Time Warner 200 package, which is one of their highest, I think the next one up is 300 but too expensive at the moment. It's was nearly 3:00 am in my time zone when I played this match, everyone has been asleep (aka not using internet). What was the problem? I didn't notice anyone else skipping, all other enemies killed me/were killed in smooth gunfights, my team mates killed other enemies fine. But Mr. Red bar would skip and jump and then land all his shots. My guess? Lag switch or some other form of messing with his connection (if there are any?). I've enjoyed crucible for a large portion of this game's duration, but this is a bit bad. The last few Iron Banners were either laggy for everyone or filled with seemingly tampered connections. Report Abuse (hisssssss) I make use of the report tools in-game and in the previous mission summary (if I miss them) with either bad connection or both bad connection and cheating. In my eyes, tampering with your connection for an advantage is cheating. Bungo pls I hear a lot of complaints about lag and lag switching, and I run into both in matches pretty frequently. I'm not gonna say "Bungie, fix the lag" because I know, it's much more complicated than that. Still, I'm sure there are some tweaks you could make that could help ease connection issues. Suggestions Maybe a more intense evaluation of connections to check for lag switches, a check that happens mid game (maybe multiple times?), or even just the implementation of a feature to rate the severity of the connection issues. Ending with a question (or a few) ·Is there anything you can do about this? ·Is there anything I/we can do about this? ·Are any of my suggestions plausible? Feel free to leave opinions/feedback/other suggestions for my eyes and whoever else's eyes fall upon this post. I'll make edits with good/popular suggestions. -The Concerned Tryhard

 • Hey there guardian, no, unfortunately there is nothing you can do about the bad connections of your enemies. If someone shows up laggy on your screen it doesn't always mean he is the one lagging although he might have a yellow or even red bar in that moment.
