A lot of those emblems were for charity, I can forgive not being able to get them anymore. Also Destiny is much like an MMO so things like timed promotional items are bound to happen. In this way it can't really be compared to older video games that allow you to obtain all the collectables. Destiny is a constantly evolving and supported MMO similar game, meaning these sort of items will continue to be added to the game in order to give all players an opportunity to make themselves special snowflakes.

  • The majority of them were not charity. The OST ones, the Ghost edition one, Sign of unity. So selling Emblems is quite distasteful, in my opinion. And for the Charity ones, they could of done something Original. Like a Nepal Event, to raising funding, they could do a community event (not the best suggestions, but atleast it's something) - Trial win streaks, people stream trials for as long as possible, while trying to get their highest winning streak. Broadcasting speedrunning the Raids for Charity) - They could've done Community events to raise even more donations. But instead marketed Emblems for Donations. There was options.

  • Regardless of the alternate approaches that they could have taken, I will not fault them for giving out emblems and shaders as incentives for charity events. I didn't donate to any of those events as I didn't have the expandable income, and I still don't wish they would've done differently. As for the Ghost edition items, I can't blame you for being fed up as its a common issue to cut off little bits of content for these editions. However an emblem and a ghost is the least of our worries, it could have been much worse, such as an exotic gun being exclusive. The soundtracks are sort of the same deal, it's a very small piece of content that took very little effort to implement so I can look past the requirements to get it. Overall I can't see this bugging you so much that you can't look past it as well, they're just emblems. Unless you very much like a certain emblem presented here, I don't think you'd lose much sleep over it.

  • As a collector it does bug me and other collectors. Even tho some of these are for Charity, it is a disreputable strat they are using, forcing people into donating just to get in-game items. I could sympathise if they rewarded people for donating - without using the emblem as the incentive. Also selling emblems - the osts - That's just morally wrong in my views. Selling in-game emblems for money is so wrong, just as bad as RNG microtransactions.

  • I guess that's where we differ, I see no harm in the use of emblems as incentives for other products or for charity. I understand how it may be frustrating, but maybe I just don't understand it from a collectors perspective. Personally I see no harm because they're just emblems to me, even though some of the ones they've put up as incentives are actually really cool. If they were bigger pieces of content then maybe I would have a different stance, but as it stands emblems just aren't significant enough to warrant a complaint from me.
