I'm having an issue with the Red Spectre in crucible as it doesn't seem to be as good as I thought it would be.
I got Focused fire, Glass half full and smallbore all equiped on it and supposedly from a few it's supposedly god tier rolls on a weapon but in crucible though it has good impact statistically in crucible the DPS is definetly not optimal.. 21 to the body and 26 to the head. Not entirely sure when glass half full is into effect as i'm often dead before then in most gun fights.
I'd like peoples Opinions on this and hopefully people who tested it for themselves can comment and give their views on it.

Thank you everyone for your facts and opinions on the matter, with what i've heard so far I can be sure on the weapon from experience and others point of views that the rolls I got on the weapon were just not meant for this particular type of autorifle, so i'll be dismantling it and trying to get a new one from crucible with luck.

I use a red spectre with mediocre rolls and do just fine.

it's terrible even without focused fire. the Zarinaea-D is ten times better if you insist on using sub-optimal auto rifles

I have the red spectre, it's damage tool tip is bugged. It's just your generic medium RoF auto rifle, like Zhalo and Monte. Also, don't use focus fire, just don't. It puts your time to kill down the drain fast, you might as well use a high RoF scout rifles.

It's because of focused fire. There are 3 archetypes of auto rifles; high rate of fire, medium rate of fire, and low rate of fire. Red spectre is a medium rate of fire. The rate of fire on high autos is like 900 rpm, medium is like 650 rpm, and low is 400 rpm I think? (I do not claim these numbers to be exactly correct, I'm trying to remember from a post a while back.) Anyways, focused fire is broken for medium rof autos. The game runs at 30 fps, and to provide visual stability bungie made all weapon rate of fires compatible with that, meaning bullets will only fire in a frame of the game (to prevent the image of double-firing every other frame or so). Focused fire lowers rof by 33% while buffing damage 33%. This affects medium rof autos because 33% of whatever their rounds-per-minute is, is a number not divisible by 30 fps. So they bump it down to the rate of fire equivalent of a low-rof auto with focused fire. Basically, an overall change of -66% rate of fire. The problem is that the damage is still only buffed by 33%. So any medium rate of fire auto rifle is completely ruined by focused fire, as you are giving up 66% rate of fire for only 33% damage boost. I'm sorry I couldn't remember the exact number, but this topic was recently tested on crucible playbook and I was trying to remember off the top of my head.

Got one with Red Dot OES, Crowd Control, Perfect Balance, and Glass Half Full. Thought it was pretty decent the few times I took it for a spin in Crucible.
-
Usualy no, but getting one with counter balance and braced feame is basicly game breaking. Its just such a rare drop it effectivley like rolling rng on your rng inside of a box full of rng, this box itself being rng to find inside of a sea of rng.

Red Spectre is bugged. It has lower impact than it appears. It's in the Monte Carlo/Hard Light family for impact. In general, Focus Fire is a bad perk for PvP. The increased damage often isn't worth the TTK sacrifice you're making. Suros Regime is a possible exception only because Focus Fire gives Suros a range buff and high impact/low ROF ARs got a small buff last patch. Really, all that matters though is whether or not the gun is working for you. Sounds like it's not...
