That will be the difference. Console games will never be free, but they will go to a micro-transaction system that allows players who purchase to advance faster than those who don't. I don't have to purchase gems in Clash of Clans, but if I do then my village grows more powerful at a vastly accelerated rate. Just go look at the Black Ops 3 reddits. You can now purchase weapons, ammo, and armor that does give you a competitive advantage. They have introduced a real cash payment system that does give you an advantage over players who don't pay. Activision did that for BLOPS, they will do it here. It frankly amazes me that they have already introduced armor for purchase, including items that boost your faction reputation gains and thus boost your faction rep package drops, and having ALREADY DONE THIS people are still burying their heads in the sand acting like it's a myth.

  • who cares is they do? What part of this game outside of crucible is truly competitive?? What difference will it make? So, some try hard, with no life, & a credit card goes to the lighthouse cause they paid. Good for them. I will take my money and by myself a hooker instead. Let's see who has the better memories at 80 with alzheimers. Me or him??

  • You must be new to gaming, here it is broken down. Gaming companies know not all of their consumers are jobless homedwelling welfare bludgers. They also acklowledge that those who work or have other commitments have a lot less gaming time. Those with time tend to get better eqipped sooner hence having a competitive edge over others reducing enjoyment and liklihood of participation for casuals. How to keep casuals on par with career gamers? Introduce alternative faster ways to help casuals to keep them on par with career gamers. This increases their consumer base and revenue. Good business tactic.

  • Not denying that it is "good" business. It will make them loads of money. Not new to gaming, my first system was an Atari (yes, I'm that old). Reality is that casuals actually won't be the primary purchasers here. It is the career gamers whose income from ads on their YouTube and other channels depend on entertaining their fan base. Thus, the elite get even more elite, and working professionals like me get left behind. Also, and I hate to admit this, it is tempting to make the purchase and get the gear. Bungie made the King's Fall grind so horrendous (in part), because this was a part of the business plan. Grind for hours to get the gear, or just buy it. Hmmmm ... lot's of people will just buy.

Sorry when I said career gamers I meant layabouts who sit on their ass and game not work, bad choice of wording as I dont consider gaming/streaming a job or work it is recreational entertainment. I hear where you are coming from I myself often work 12hr days ontop of 3 to 4 hours travel leaving only 8 for family gaming and sleep on the odd weekend off I might get 4 hours in but I do get up to 9 weeks paid leave per year to take at my leisure so I travel and spend time with my family and have a few days to myself for gaming. I myself had a little silver leftover from srl so bout a couple packages nothing amazing new ship new lock helm and a few croma nothing really giving me an advantage over people who play for hours daily.
