I just got the new issue of gameinformer and read the section on reach and im just wondering what the difference between the jackle and the skirmisher is besides that they travel in packs.
I do admit they look pretty awesome tho.
Posted by: AudaciousZealot Don't really look different from Jackals except the different harness and feathery head as well as that helmet. I wouldn't say Skirmishers are a new species but a subspecies of Jackals. I wonder what Jackals would look like in Reach given pictures of the Skirmisher. I wonder what the Covenant name of Skirmishers would be.
I touched on this in a scientfic way on a gamespot topic. skirmishers are almost certainly a subspices. in fact, due to the nature of the jackel home planet, I'd be superiesd if there aren't any jackel subpeices.

they even have black feathers, or fur around their necks. (should be named raptors) also, why plasma pistols?.. unless plasma pistols are super awesome now i think they should have something better, something like spikers or needlers. (or that awesome needler blade the jackals used in cole protocol) [Edited on 01.14.2010 3:08 PM PST]

Just wait a week or so for Bungie to start updating the Intelligence on the Halo Reach Project Page. Pretty much just imagine grey skinned Jackals with glowing yellow eyes.
Black skinned.
And they look even more like a Chupacabra than normal jackels... Hmm........ I have a easter egg idea: *A skirmisher attacks and kills a marine* Marine 1: "Oh my God! A Chupacabra just killed Bob!" Marine 2: "Right, and I just shot a sasquatch holding a giant hammer." But, that leaves a questation: if skirmishers= chupacabra, brutes = bigfoot, then who is the loch ness monster?
That was actually a good one! iunno about nessie, but tartarus would be a yeti!

They look bigger, nastier, they don't carry energy shields (from what I've seen, anythings possible, I s'pose). They are supposed to be able to outflank you, and finally, they have really bland names.
Posted by: Dropship dude Skirmishers sound like they'll be more agressive, and move tactically by flanking you. The image I saw on the magazine showed it wielding a plasma pistol, I think, so they are no real threat to an eager shooter.
Really? I saw a picture of them holding some sort of green blade.
-
Is it me,or do they remind you guys of the jakels from Halo:CE?

I compare the skirmishers to the raptor is jurrasic park in my mind. They probly move fast and use some sort of melee weapon and they are realy smart as in work as a team.
-
Skirmishers seem to be much more mobile and tougher than jackals. While jackals cower behind their shields and form a wall, these guys seem to want to flank and murder you.
