Because it takes away from the fun of this game. It makes me feel accomplished when I grind a strike to get a certain weapon with a specific role but if I could just get a weapon once and reforge it into whatever I want where's the fun in that?

I don't feel accomplished when it is only luck that decides perks. When someone kills a dreg while patrolling The Divide and I'm standing near it, getting the best perks ever - that isn't exactly an accomplishment, it is being rewarded for participating, and not rewarding those who put forth actual effort. So where is the incentive to do other things? There isn't one. With reforging, I'm still at the mercy of RNG trying to get certain gear, but then it grinding over and over and over again to obtain the parts, motes, and glimmer to reroll again and again. That is so much more involving than just "getting lucky" as one could get a .01 k/d in a single match in crucible and leave with the best item.

It wasn't just wham turn in gun you get god roll from gunsmith. The reforging was a grind itself! Took days sometimes to get a good roll.
-
That wasn't a fun grind though. Hitting x to reforge the weapon and then checking to see what roll you got wasn't fun or entertaining.
-
Speak for yourself!!! For an old fart like me it was just like being in the casino hitting the spin button on the slot machines!!! Lol
-
Limit it. You can only reroll a weapon 5 times before you cant reroll it anymore. This way drops will always provide some sort of incentive without breaking the game.

Edited by JasperGTR: 3/23/2016 2:48:39 AMI like this. But Bungie doesn't approve of choice. That's why I can't avoid matchmaking in weekly heroic strikes, and must spend time NOT in the game using LFG for raids, nightfalls, old PoE (a year ago, and again maybe a month from now), or as simple as trying to get a Black Spindle. Because it's hard to press A/X to launch with matchmaking, or Y/triangle to launch without matchmaking. Choice doesn't coincide with Bungie's mantra.

50/50 chance of a reroll/disassemble each time. That would make it sweaty.

It'd be the fun of actually getting decent gear.
