[Looking for answer from Bungie] Is TTK LE purchase PS3 / PS4 crossplatform?
Hello! I'm looking for an answer from an [u]official[/u] Bungie support account.
I recently got vanilla Destiny without any DLC for my PS4. My friend got curious and wanted to play with me, but they didn't own a PS4 so they got the game for PS3 - as did I. So I now own two identical vanilla copies of Destiny on discs. I can switch from PS3 to PS4 or the other way around easily and my progress and everything is there - great! We were thinking of upgrading to The Taken King Legendary Editions so that we could continue the story after reaching the cap of Lv. 34, but before we do that I have a question. If I buy TTK for PS4, can I access the raids etc. on PS3 with my friend? If not, can I still use my TTK character on a platform where I don't own TTK? If so, can I use TTK gear and gain xp? I tried looking this up, but any information I found was untrustworthy. Some said this works, some said this doesn't. If it doesn't, can I get access to TTK if my friend who has TTK activated on their account login to my PS3 and have it work that way like with other games? I am [u]extremely[/u] confused about all of this. I have already ordered TTK LE, but I have two days left to cancel my shipping order, so I decided to ask. Hello Michael, Players on PS4 cannot play with players on PS3, and vice versa. Characters can, however, transfer back and forth between console generations freely as long as you are logging in with the same PSN ID. Access to Destiny content may be limited, depending on what licenses are owned for that console generation. Licenses for Destiny, The Taken King, as well as The Taken King Collector's Edition content will not transfer from PS3 to PS4. Only the licenses for Expansion I: The Dark Below, and Expansion II: House of Wolves may still be transferred [b]from[/b] PS3 [b]to[/b] PS4 via the [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12122]Digital Upgrade Program[/url]. Please note that these licenses only upgrade in one direction, from PS3 to PS4. Licenses purchased on PS4 cannot be transferred to PS3.

Bungie is going to straight out tell you they do not support game sharing. Also you would need a copy of TTK on both platforms if you wish to play it on both consoles.

The Taken King allows you to progress past level 34. Without it, you cannot progress. You will not lose access to your equipment though, no. Though any special items i.e. emblems, bonus content, etc. that you obtained on one console will not be able to be switched to on the other.
