In the world of gaming you can not go by a proper definition. In accordance with the world of gaming elitists are those who are good or think they are good and lord it over everyone else, they are those that are extremely self righteous and believe that gaming should be built to serve them and only they can have correct opinions on things. Anyone who is skilled at gaming and does not have this horrible attitude is simply referred to as a skilled, or really good player, perhaps even amazing. In the gaming world it is not your skill level that determines if you are an elitist, but rather your attitude is the determining factor.

  • For one thing definitions of words are not absolute, even outside the gaming world definitions are constantly changed, and new words are constantly made. The definition or the way in which we use a word now could easily change in the future. The way in which we write and speak in this day and age is very different from the past. Humans created the english language, we made it up, therefore it only stands to reason that we can change it. And since things like language pretty much rely on majority rule, if the majority uses a word in a different way then that can very easily become the new definition of the word.

  • That is a very good point. However, I don't think elitism should be thought of the way it is.

  • Maybe not, but unless you can get everyone to accept your definition, that is just how it is. Though you are also free to voice your opinion, new or different ideas are how things change.
