Today in Gaming - 2/14/16

Happy Valentine's Day, and welcome to the newest issue of Today in Gaming! Here I will break down the latest news and offers from around the gaming community! Headlines Doom Campaign Averages 13 Hours Based on internal playtesting, Doom developers claim that the average length for completion of the campaign is 13 hours. As for any game however, this number will change based on the difficulty you choose to tackle. Street Fighter V Available to Pre-Download If you have bought a copy of the upcoming Street Fighter title already, you can now pre-download it on your PS4 or PC. It will total up to around 13 GB for both systems. Of course, it won't be playable until February 16 - but when the date hits you can play it immediately! Microsoft Working on Cross-Buy and Cross-Save Features Apparently, Quantum Break is only the first of many titles Microsoft expects to roll out simultaneously for Xbox One and Windows 10. Microsoft wants all games that run on both systems to be able to share a save file, and allow purchases on the same account. The implications for this move are interesting. Rise of the Tomb Raider Brings Home Writing Award During yesterday's 'Writer's Guild Awards', Rise of the Tomb Raider took the "Outstanding Achievement" commendation. Other games that contested for the prestigious award were The Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, and Pillars of Eternity. PSN Celebrates Valentine's Day With Flash Sale If you can get away from your lover for a few minutes, fire up your PS4 and take a look at the great deals on games like Battlefield 4, Diablo III, FarCry 4, and Payday 2. WWII Game 'Battalion 1944' Rockets Past $300k on Kickstarter After reaching their $142,000 goal in two days on Kickstarter, Battalion 1944 is shaping up to be another hugely successful crowdfunded video game. The game aims to capture the core multiplayer shooter experience. It will eventually release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Deals Gears of War: Ultimate Edition: $19.40 Amazon Batman: Arkham Knight: $25.96 Walmart The Nathan Drake Collection: $27.99 Walmart Borderlands: The Handsome Collection: $29.99 BestBuy Square Enix Games up to 50% Off Square Enix That's it for today! Rise of tomb raider got a writing award?! Oh, come on, is that really the best videogames can do??? There's surely better written story-based games than that? What about Her Story, for example, or Life Is Strange? There's surely others, too
