I'm the opposite, year one games were occasionally lopsided, but not as much as year two games. When I play solo, I got matched with lower level people on my team, and people closer to me on the other team. This lead to almost constant one-sided gamed. Seriously, I can't tell you how many screenshots I have where my team all went negative and I broke even or even went positive. Doing the crucible quest (before they fixed it) was god awful.
