For such a miniscule event like Crimson Days, why is there no matchmaking?

I get that going into solo into a doubles playlist could go horribly if you go against a pre-made fireteam, but since they're already putting in a Freelance Mode, why not implement that mechanic early into Crimson Days? It shouldn't be that hard to make a separate playlist for solo players. I work 12 hours a day and don't have time after work to go on LFG just to find someone for a DOUBLES playlist. I just want to jump in and play. Kind of a silly request to some, I'm sure. But I can't be the only one who thinks this right? Edit: Thanks for the replies guys. As few as there are its the most I've ever gotten lol. For those who say it's meant to go in with a person you already teamed up with because it's Valentine's day, I get it, but solo players should have fun too. That's like telling everyone IRL who is single to stay home this Sunday if they don't want to meet anyone. Edit 2: Lets keep it up guys. Deej or Cozmo really needs our feedback regarding solo play style. An actual solution is needed, espcially for something that supposed to be as fun as SRL or Festival of the Lost. I keep seeing posts about Crimson Doubles being sweaty as shit already, and I haven't even played it yet lol. Edit 3: Wow over 100 replies! Thanks to everyone that is contributing to the conversation, be it for or against the topic at hand. Edit 4: Just past 200! There's a lot of good points being made, one obviously is that I'm lazy as shit and should just use an LFG website and call it a day. I sure as shit could do that, but the point is this all boils down to is that I have to leave the game in order to play it. This has been an issue since day 1. Maybe direct matchmaking for Crimson Doubles isn't the way to go, but to simply not have any way of finding people to play with in game besides messaging randoms in the tower is ridiculous. To bring it all home to the title of this post, it's a small event, and while the bounties are tied to being in a fireteam, it could have been set up way differently. How? Idk look at all the other posts people have put. Take your pick. I don't want to (or as others would call it too lazy) use something I already have to use for raids just for a small ass event. Edit 5: 100 likes and 500 replies! I'm digging it!

  • I think your forgetting one important footnote.........quitters. Would you like it if some random -blam!-s off cause he can't kill. It happens in Skirmish and Salvage all the time. Ain't no way wanna play with some random who is most likely gonna walk cause he has no balls.

  • Honestly, I'm not going to touch CD because of this. If they're going to release events as content, they should be accessible, period. I don't get how they can be so dense. Players continue to leave over this, and they're more concerned about some half-witted, unsupported, lazy philosophy that forces the use of 3rd party/external resources (LFG sites, forums) as a crutch to supplement their game. It's shameful and pathetic.

    • I agree. I've been posting these "need matchmaking options" posts since the early weeks of the game. 1. Optional matchmaking does not take away from the teams so there is no downfall. 2. LFG is the same thing with extra time and effort required outside the game. It also allows the hance to be a D-bag with BS requirements and restrictions making the issue of finding a partner even worse. 3. No portion of this game should be restricted to people that paid for it. Everyone should have the OPTION to just jump on and run a few quick games without making half a day out of it.

I'll tell you why. Because Bungie wants you to play with a friend that you've made already or give you the chance to find a buddy to play with. In your case a futile attempt to bring the community together. Also I call bullshit on not having time to find someone on LFG, literally takes a minute. Edit: Ohhh you need to leave the game for that. Bummer then. :C Except you know. You got a phone.

    • TLDR I'm pretty sure it took longer to write your post then it would to find ONE person on LFG

Funniest thing about the whole discussion are all the people, who defend Bungie for being too lazy or unwilling to finally add matchmaking to ALL activities. What the heck is so difficult about it? And why are all those 'desticles' commenting with crap like "If you don't have friends, you shouldn't play Destiny"? Saw an interesting post about the issue a few hours ago. Main point was, that adding the feature wouldn't hurt ANYBODY, who prefers to go into an activity with a fireteam, but would help those, who, for whichever reason, cannot, a lot. The post also mentioned, that denying matchmaking might be a tactic by Bungie, to lure people, who already stopped playing the game, back into it, because they are asked to help out by their friends. Sounds somewhat reasonable to me, considering the fact, how Bungie treated their playerbase in the past. The only thing they are really interested in is individual playtime to boost their statistics.

        • Those actual rl friends of mine who use to play Destiny have long since moved to other games, I'm still an addict (well as much as having 3 kids allows!) and have no interest in using LFG to find a CD partner with my very average K/D - so a game with expiring content is now teasing me with content I cannot access! Final nail in the coffin?....almost....

          • the whole reason for crimson days is to play with your significant other (or a friend) i understand wanting matchmaking and the annoyance that not having a group/person can bring, but under these circumstances, i see why they havent implemented it.

Crimson Days being limited to fireteams only is a technical limitation, not a voluntary decision. The way it's been described is that they can't do matchmaking AND shared rewards, which is the big thing about Crimson Days. You'd have to choose between either individual rewards (meaning you could end up with nothing while your partner gets the best of everything), or you pick a partner (just like Trials), and you both get rewards. So bitch and upvote all you want, it's not going to change anything in this case. You can easily find a partner, whether they're a friend or not, so don't complain.

              • What's the difference between LFG or Matchmaking? I've used LFG and it's Random based on time of post for the most part. Soooooo Bungie... why not use matchmaking? Really what's the big f'ing deal?

              • Yeah, it's not accessible enough for me to want to play it. Sometimes I just want to play spur of the moment. I'll just pass.

                • M8 you wouldn't need to LFG if you actually had friends. Destiny is an online game for a reason. ;) if you haven't figured that out yet I feel bad for you.
