I get that going into solo into a doubles playlist could go horribly if you go against a pre-made fireteam, but since they're already putting in a Freelance Mode, why not implement that mechanic early into Crimson Days? It shouldn't be that hard to make a separate playlist for solo players. I work 12 hours a day and don't have time after work to go on LFG just to find someone for a DOUBLES playlist. I just want to jump in and play. Kind of a silly request to some, I'm sure. But I can't be the only one who thinks this right?
Edit: Thanks for the replies guys. As few as there are its the most I've ever gotten lol. For those who say it's meant to go in with a person you already teamed up with because it's Valentine's day, I get it, but solo players should have fun too. That's like telling everyone IRL who is single to stay home this Sunday if they don't want to meet anyone.
Edit 2: Lets keep it up guys. Deej or Cozmo really needs our feedback regarding solo play style. An actual solution is needed, espcially for something that supposed to be as fun as SRL or Festival of the Lost. I keep seeing posts about Crimson Doubles being sweaty as shit already, and I haven't even played it yet lol.
Edit 3: Wow over 100 replies! Thanks to everyone that is contributing to the conversation, be it for or against the topic at hand.
Edit 4: Just past 200! There's a lot of good points being made, one obviously is that I'm lazy as shit and should just use an LFG website and call it a day. I sure as shit could do that, but the point is this all boils down to is that I have to leave the game in order to play it. This has been an issue since day 1. Maybe direct matchmaking for Crimson Doubles isn't the way to go, but to simply not have any way of finding people to play with in game besides messaging randoms in the tower is ridiculous. To bring it all home to the title of this post, it's a small event, and while the bounties are tied to being in a fireteam, it could have been set up way differently. How? Idk look at all the other posts people have put. Take your pick. I don't want to (or as others would call it too lazy) use something I already have to use for raids just for a small ass event.
Edit 5: 100 likes and 500 replies! I'm digging it!

Because stupid.
-
Crimson and chill
-
I really agree, sometimes my friends are busy or don't have time.
-
Agreed, all my friends are not playing destiny anymore, I was hoping I could at least get matchmaking and be able to play in the event....
-
Agree. I too work 12hrs/day. Plus 2 children. AND a wife. No time to look for a partner, but would like to enjoy such events.
-
I need a decent Crimson Doubles partner on PS4. Anyone interested?
-
Crimson Days isn't sweaty at all... or at least I haven't been getting killed by the top offenders yet...
-
Why would it put you in solo that's just dumb, the whole point of the event is to have a partner. Adding with going solo would give you the buff the whole game, how could you lose.
-
Bungie wants the game to be a "social game" yet they make you go other places out of game to find teams for raids, trials, nightfalls, and now this. That isn't a social game at all. An area in the tower designated for activity meet up would make the game more social
-
While I am against Trials matchmaking, there is absolutely no reason a non ranked system like this shouldn't have it.... Especially when the entire purpose is to make you play a million games in the hope of a high level ghost.
-
I can agree with this. None of my clanmates were on last night, so I thought, "oh, I'll try Crimson Doubles". Nope. Can't.
-
You're missing the point, the whole idea of Crimson is two close friends go into a a playlist together.
-
Just read the title. There's no matchmaking because of the desire to make one partners activity complete the others bounty. So if I get a precision kill it counts on both our bounties. Technical limitations mean you must be in a fireteam for this to work.
-
Agree!!!!!! Like you, I'm a solo player with little time to play. I had played elimination solo without mic to complete bounties and quests; played solo in IB control, clash & rift and had a blast, also, they added elimination in freelance. Entering in crimson doubles in a fireteam or matchmaking should be a choice for the player not an imposition in such a casual event (it's no trials). Nevertheless; crimson doubles looks great; seen streams and its look like a lot of fun, even though seems like a thorn & sniper fest. Lets see if I can join the party during the week. Bungie did good with this event, but matchmaking would be the cherry on top for players like us. I'm always in favor on power to the players; matchmaking should be an option for the player.
For such a miniscule event like Crimson Days, why is there no matchmaking?
You sir, asked the right question. I cannot think of a possible way why this isn't matchmaking. Lose a match against a team? Doesn't matter, you'll still get rewards.

Agree Sometimes i just like to sit down hit a button and not have to worry about headset, finding people on third party site, or talking to teammates. Sometimes im just chilling playing a lobby and then get an invite to a party and cringe. Then grab headset/ set it up and then join party to have them ask "wanna raid?".

Thank You Cayde, I will never forget!!! - old
The problem is people have to farm endless matches for a ghost shell drop, and when people get there bounties done. They leave you flying solo, forcing you to go back to the forums A strategic semi-competitive event like Iron Banner is matchmaking, but you have to fireteam for the Valentine's Day playlist -
If you want to find someone me one you will. Last night I played with friends first, they left so I jumped into an elimination match within 2mins of sitting in the lobby I got a friends request from someone in the lobby, 5 minutes later we were playing Crimson doubles. Use your head and you can easily find people to play with. Lfgs are available too

Couples is an issue. My wife doesn't like shooters So I teamed up with my son for this
-
Most of Destiny is for solo people/can be done by sole people, this event is for people that have 1 friend online. It's the definition of the event. This post is a waste of space.
-
The Tower just creeps me out atm, can we lose the funeral parlour look for crying into your soup
-
I agree with you man, it is simple, all they have to do is make another option when you pick Crimson Doubles, but if you are on the Xbox One and you want someone it's XxOblivionxX97 (anyone can add me if they want to mess shit up).
-
Yeah. I don't get that. Kinda dumb. There's nothing really that interesting about this that should require you to have a pre-thought out team.
-
I don't really get it. It is not an intense playlist. Added with that fact that you don't need to win to get good rewards. They could have added matchmaking. I've been playing with randos from LFG and it is fine.
-
Same here. Plus, these events are just garbage and a waste of time. Sure, it's "filler" time due to no content.... but still, events, PVP events, are getting annoying and making me plus others not enjoy this game.
