I have recently learned that there are other ways to deal with lag switch cheaters than banning or reprogramming PvP for dedicated servers.
There is technology that monitors the players connection strength and can differentiate the patterns of poor connection due to other internet use in the household or problems with the provider from when a lag switch is engaged.
When the pattern typical of lag switch use is detected that player is flagged. When it is repeated that player is removed from the game.
For a lot of us, banning lag switch cheaters is a "too little, too late" situation. It has ruined a good chance at making it to the lighthouse for so many people. When the ban hammer gets swung there is a temporary decrease in the amount of cheating.
If a lag switch cheater cannot gain anything from cheating then cheating will be pointless.
It'll also spare players who never cheat, have been repeatedly cheated out of flawless a lot of frustration and disappointment.

The tools for this exist. This is one example. Perhaps a different program or one custom made for Destiny would be more efficient.
Please consider something like this for a solution to the cheating problem in our PvP.
Sincerely, and without salt,
Puma

Why not have a simple "vote to kick" option accessible from the score screen? It would obviously have require a majority of total players in the match to be in favor, but I think it would work better than just flag&ban. That way, there's a (potential) real consequence for cheating. And if you're constantly kicked from games, then they can ban your screen-name.

Look!!! It's reason!!! BURN IT!!!!

Bump I agree so many times I'm 7-8 and no losses and when it matters to get that last win who do I get a match with? A bunch of cheaters I don't even care about the loot I just want to visit the lighthouse and explore, I report them but I don't feel like it ever does anything

The reason the problem remains is due to the simple and well known fact that the powers to be just don't care. They don't care about problems about cheaters about your efforts to get to the lighthouse about your gear about your light level. They are takers and will take without regard to you despite your financial investment, time, blood, sweat or tears. There job was to sell a game to the masses. Done. The cheaters bought it same as you so what if they cheat or extort cash to carry others to the lighthouse. The developers develop the marketers market they all get paid and the focus is not on repair but the next big hustle.

Rather than boot them, I would just prefer we turn them over to ISIS for appropriate punishment. But in all seriousness, why not just flag lagswitch users and force them to play against other lag switchers. That would be freaking amazing to watch the lag switchers come on the forums and complain about always getting in matches with other people lag switching LOL

I tried so many times to have a normal competitive game, but you know there's always that one guy in the other fireteam (not the whole team) skipping in the same areas then your dead and then it shows he's across the map. Seriously bungie, you guys said so many times they will crack down on this yet we can't name and shame, so what are we supposed to do Bungie???? Bump!

Nah they'll rather listen to the nerf sniper rifle threads.

Your salt free, well written, and spot on post gets a bump.

Edited by Forsz: 2/9/2016 7:27:21 AMBump!!!!!! At least one or two -blam!-ing matches every card we run into a cheater of some kind, multiple times a night I get a message admitting to lag switching and not caring. Why? There is no sheriff in town. It's a wonder anyone that doesn't cheat still plays trials.

You used calm factual reason with a legitimate solution. Thus practically no chance of being implemented.

Bump... Its gotten way out of hand

Well since this is an online only game, I wouldn't mind seeing maximum ping. If you exceed a certain ping, you are not allowed to play pvp. Would make a lot of people happy, except for the person no allowed to play because they don't have good internet, or are lag switching
