Weapon Crafting Proposal

I feel like I’m not the only one who enjoys crafting items. Games like Skyrim, Dead Space 3 and even Minecraft entertain me due to being able to craft various styles of weapons and armors. I was kind of hoping that Destiny would have a system like this but I really don’t think that it needs this now but I have come up with my own system with explanations on how everything works for the weapons so far. When you dismantle weapons, you will get points for a Gunsmith rank (I had this idea before TTK) and once it fills up, you will be able to begin crafting weapons. You will get more rank points for the higher rarity items and once you reach Rank 1, you will be able to craft Uncommon rarity primary weapons. Specific parts for the weapons such as sights and frames would come from dismantling weapons, rewards for gunsmith bounties, or finding loot caches. If you don’t have any of the parts on hand, you will have to make them using Glimmer or other materials. When approaching the tools behind Banshee’s table, you will be able to then access the crafting menu, with a little tutorial from Banshee himself. 0: Item Rarity- This will be where you determine the rarity of your weapon. The higher rarities will have a higher attack stat and have more perk slots 1: Weapon Type- First you will choose what kind of weapon you want. Starting with primary weapons, you would choose between Hand Cannon, Auto Rifle, Pulse Rifle, or Scout Rifle. I will choose an Auto Rifle. 2: Frames- Then we will move on to choosing which frame to use in the weapon. These rifles can have the frames of the other rifle weapon types (minus HCs) that will come with their own benefits or drawbacks. I will choose the frame of what is typically known for a Pulse Rifle, the bullpup design will come with a slight increase to reload speed and stability but will have slightly reduced handling due to the forward weight of the barrel. Frames will also have Attachment Slots which can be used to add intrinsic perks into the weapon and modify how it can behave. Certain foundry frames will have very strict stats. Different frames will affect the stats in different ways as well as have their own handling stats. 3: Locks, Stocks, and Barrels- The frame would be the main part of the weapon of the chamber, trigger, and magazine, but you can change out the barrels, stocks, and sights of the weapon that you are going to make. Since I am using the bullpup frame I won’t have too many options in terms of stocks (bullpups have the magazine located behind the trigger) but can have slight extensions or cushions for less recoil. The barrel perks I will mention include the ones that act as perks that are listed when modifying the perks on a shotgun rather than the scopes but they will carry the same effects in addition to being able to benefit from sights. Barrels would control accuracy, range, and impact. Magazines can be modified to be larger or smaller but will affect reload speed and mag size. What the mag looks like will also be changed depending on which is chosen. 4: Attachments- You know how some weapons have parts of them that look like they could do something? Some weapons have legs attached to them and my thought is that those can be equipped during crafting to provide an intrinsic perk. Bipod would be activated in the same way as Guerrilla Fighter, and would provide greatly heightened stability while aimed from behind cover. These attachments would be placed on parts of the weapon that have Attachment Slots and may decrease the weapon’s handling due to the added weight. 5: Perks- The higher the rarity the more perks can be equipped and as of TTK, depending on the foundry that made the frame (if said) would determine how the perks are lined up. As it is will be, most craftable perks can be made using Glimmer or other materials as well as obtaining them from loot sources, some perks are required to use other materials. Starting with the sights, sights are used to see further and increase your weapon’s range stat but the larger sights/scopes could have decreases on stability. Chokes and barrels would take the place of sights in shotguns or other weapons that do such. Then you would have the first ‘action’ perk, these could be things such as persistence or rangefinder. The second row of perks would consist of things such as Extended Mag, or Perfect Balance. Then there’s the last perk which is the same as the first one. Let me know if you would like any clarification because I don’t have time to read over it right now (I also do better at making points while I’m being asked questions). Feel free to comment what you think and don’t be afraid to like this post. Have a great day. Edit: Should I have made this a poll? Edit: Here is the link to the poll https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/189815321/0/0/1 Edit: Certain perks are not compatible with certain weapons and some just simply cannot be crafted at all. You can save or finding weapon frames as a blueprint by either opening chest or dismantling an item and getting the frame.
