Guardian Down - Chapter 11.3

New Home - 11.3 "No, not this one..." Emilia sighed, tossing a book behind her. "Not this one either..." She continued tossing books. The door tone rang behind her, but she chose to ignore it. "Whatcha' looking for?" Maria asked, smirking. She walked up to Emilia, putting her hand on Emilia's shoulder. "Nothing..." She replied, turning to face Maria. "What d'you want?" Emilia asked back, taking off her glasses and crossing her arms. "Just bored, wanted to talk a bit," Maria replied, sitting down on a nearby bench and patted a spot next to her. Emilia hesitated and sighed, walking then sitting down on the bench. The two female Guardians sat in silence, trying to think of a topic to discuss. Minutes passed by slowly as they still sat in silence. "Well, you're boring, that's for sure," Maria scoffed, crossing her legs. Emilia, flustered, crossed her arms and turned away from the Titan. "W-Well at least-- At least you're honest," she sighed, slouching on the bench. "Hey, hey. I didn't mean it. I may be mean, but I'm not that mean. It's just who I am." Maria mumbled under her breath, uncrossing her legs. "Look, how's about we go for some tea, and some other things?" She felt guilt, stood up, and offered her hand to Emilia. "My treat," she smiled warmly. "A-Alright..." Emilia answered, taking up Maria's offer and standing up... ____________________________________________ "Deadeye!" A female Hunter yelled with pen and paper in hand. "Can I have your autograph? Please?!" "Autograph? M-Me?" Rush stammered, pointing at himself. "I was never asked to do an autograph before... Uh, I guess," he shrugged, taking the pen and paper away from the Hunter and signing it. "Here you go." "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank youuu~!" She screamed enthusiastically, running back to her group of friends, flailing the paper and pen in her hands. "I GOT IT!" The group of girls squealed, skipping throughout the Tower. "Weird girls..." Rush cleared his throat, sharpening his knife. "Makes me wonder... have I missed out on something? Or... whatever." He sheathed his knife, and summons Hunt. "Transmat me down, Hunt." "On it," his Ghost obeyed, dematerializing Rush from the feet up. ____________________________________________ "Help me carry some bags, damnit!" Zephyr yelled, dragging grocery bags down the street. "Or, or, you could tell your Ghost to store it somewhere." Dennis replied. "Besides, just use your Sparrow. Think smart, Zephyr, like the Warlock you are," he scoffed, slowly scooting by on his Sparrow, waving as he passed by Zephyr. "Why did I not think about the simplest solutions?!" Zephyr cursed to the air, summoning his Ghost, Shimmer. "Shimmy Shamey and Shimmer... Can you summon my Sparrow?" "Yes, if you don't call me that again..." Shimmer sighed, transmatting the Sparrow in from of Zephyr. The Warlock tied the bags to the seat and hopped on his Sparrow. He instantly activated the thrusters, passing Dennis on his way back to their abode. "Way to go... Way to gooo..." Gizmo sarcastically clapped, "cheering" on Zephyr for finally using his Sparrow. "Awesome..." ____________________________________________ "So... What were you looking for specifically?" Maria asked, sipping her tea. "If you don't mind me asking, that is," she continued crossing her legs. "You don't need to know... It's kinda secret." Emilia replied, adjusting her glasses. "Oh, have you seen my Ghost? He was told to stay in the Tower... I'm worried he might have whizzed off somewhere." "No clue... He's probably still behind those boxes down at the Bar. Who knows though?" Maria answered, sighing as she finished her tea. "Welp, umm... Nice talk, I guess," she continued. "Not saying you're boring, but... Yo-" "It's fine." Emilia interrupted Maria, smiling warmly. "You don't need to say anything. If you want to take your leave and go, I'm fine with that." "Now I feel guilt..." Maria sighed, sitting back down. "Since I'm staying here now, what can we do?" "Be boring as me and read!" Emilia giggled, kicking her feet in the air excitedly. "Ah, never mind. That's not fun... And I can't do anything as 'fun,' I have restrictions. I can't do any activities that will result in my death... All I can do is be safe," she mumbled quietly, abruptly becoming depressed and looking down at the floor. She sighed, and spoke. "...It's whatever though..." "Hey, hey. Don't be sad. That's bad, very bad... I don't like seeing people down in the dumps. Do you need some cheering up? Anything I can do?" Maria asked, comforting Emilia. "Anything?" "No. I just need to be alone for the time being," Emilia said vaguely, pointing to the exit door. "Now please, leave..." "Oh, alright. . ." Maria said quietly, picking up her belongings and walked towards the entrance. Upon opening the door, Maria looked back at Emilia, who was picking up her bag and books, and walked out. She's gloomy... Gonna try to cheer her up at least. ____________________________________________ Rush flipped the holographic T.V on and sat down on the nearest couch. The rumbling of screeches and screams outside of the house. He sighed and turned the volume up to ignore the noise outside. "Weird change in the Tower... I have once never been asked to autograph something. Very weird. Opinions, Hunt?" "You've got some fans. That's a first..." Hunt mumbled, making robotic noises as he whizzed around the room. Rush looked at his Ghost with his eyebrow raised. "I heard that," said Rush, flipping through T.V channels. "Boring, boring... Oh god, not that! Boring, boring, bo-- Nah, this'll do." Rush lied down on the couch, relaxing as the T.V sounded throughout the building. Maria entered the building, sighing. "Oh, you're here. How are ya?" She asked, stretching. Rush blinked, and opened his mouth. "Pretty good. Not much trouble, but I'm fine with that. You?" "Lil ol' chit-chat with Emilia... She was bummed out by the end. I think she's still at the Library, said she wanted to be alone," she replied. "Sooo... That's where you come in, I'm guessing." "You didn't upset her, did you?" Rush stood up, crossing his arms. "N-Not like I care or anything," his face flushed with light red. "Sure, sure... But I-- I might have. I just asked her a question on what we were going to do and she just kinda... got moody," Maria let out. Rush blinked, sighing as he turned off the T.V. "I was gonna relax, thanks," he sighed, walking toward the exit. "Geez, how's she feeling? Does she need entertainment or anything? I can run a cooking show for her or something... Just for the laughs. Actually, thinking about it... Heheh. Rush 'Calzone,' he... Funny. I wonder wh-" "JUST GO ALREADY!" Maria yelled, pointing furiously at the exit. Rush raised his hands defensively and exited the door slowly. ____________________________________________ Dennis, Gizmo, and Zephyr arrived at the entrance of their house carrying groceries. "Alright, so we got food, food-- Just food," Gizmo sighed. "Well... Food is good sooo, I'll guess we'll head inside," he finished, opening the door as Rush walked out. "Hey fellas, no time to talk, put that in the fridge. Bye," Rush finished quickly, rushing to the Library. Zephyr and Dennis blinked, confused as to what happened and headed inside. "What's wrong with him?" Zephyr questioned, rubbing the back of his neck. "Probably in a RUSH," exclaimed Gizmo as he laughed loudly. Dennis slightly chuckled, taking some bags to the fridge. Dennis emptied the bags, and stored the food in the fridge and walked over to the couch. "I wonder when the next mission briefing is..." Dennis thought aloud, lying down on the couch.
