Reminds me of [i]Rust[/i]. The protagonists were all white, nobody cared. Then they radomized every player's race and tied it to their Steam ID.
People started getting racist, really fast, in complaint of having a character unintentionally dissimilar from their own race.
This relates to the topic in how the forum users suggested a fix. They wanted to make the skin tones green, blue, or some other entirely outlandish tone that negates the issue of race. They wanted to go from the racist extreme to the other end where no racial topics could truly come up. That is wrong also, because we as a people need to be able to hold discussions over disagreeable things in order to progress society.

I'm pretty sure a similar thing happened in another game in 2015 as well. Too many people passionately disagree about environmental issues, so we should stop talking about the planet.
