Activision was the one that made the changes to shorten the story line and remove the weapon quest line changes in favor of "replayability" in order to increase the amount of time people spent playing.

    No that was actually done by Bungie's lead story director. There's an article about everything that happened from a confirmed bungie employee somewhere

Activision changed everything.

    Bungie's lead story director, Joseph Staten, left Bungie because [b]Activision[/b] turned down his story idea, wrote another one barely a year before the game's release, and decided to cut it up into bits.
