Beta Player. Saying goodbye...finally

Dear Destiny, Bungie, The Community I'm sure you've read these posts before but it's my time to permanently leave this game. This game has brought me hundreds of hours of enjoyment and great times and even some good friends. I began being excited for this game ever since it's announcement, wanting to once again enter the awesomeness that is Bungie's presence. I remember my first raid like it was yesterday, me and some best friends staying up late going in blind. All the trials and tribulations led me to having some of the best times I've ever had, and ever will have, in my video game career (Loot Cave and the greedy Rahool, Jackolyte, Felwinter's Sniper, pushing around the Templar, that sweet sweet Gjallarhorn, Kneeled Crota, Burn Skolas). I played daily for the entirety of Year 1 loving it, so excited to get my hands on TTK and leaving school early to get it (Yes I'm 17, "got sick") and my hands shaking when I finally had it. However, after returning to this game from a quick 3 week break and experiencing other FPS (CoD: BO3, Halo 5: Guardians, even Fallout 4 to an extent) I've come to realize I just don't have fun with this game anymore. The story is bland and doesn't quench my thirst of knowledge for its lore like other games. The gun play used to be amazing and tight, but with all of the changes I'm afraid Bungie is unsure of what they want for their multiplayer and has made the PvP unbearable to play unless in a group of well organized friends that know how to play (I'm looking at you Iron Banner!) Last but not least the raid. Yes, it's better than Crota, but dare I say is probably the easiest thing I've ever done. Challenge mode? Ha, you mean small tweaks to the already used methods. This game has become boring in its PvE and frustratingly broken in its PvP and it pains me to play now knowing what is used to be. Although I basically just shat on this game harder than a Striker on a Defender bubble on B flag, I still love it. I criticize this game because it is...was...awesome. This game has truly impacted my gaming career and will always be a landmark in my books and for that I say thank you. Sadly, the way Bungie is taking this game is not for me. I love what this game was. What it had the potential to be and will just be disappointed that I'll never see that. Goodbye Destiny, it's Community and goodbye Bungie, I hope your quest for world domination comes together because you guys deserve more than Master Chief deserves a good game again. Sincerely, a Veteran to both Destiny and Bungie -MiniMoneyRoll98

      • lol this game hasn't been "awesome" since Alpha. At best it's been mildly entertaining enough and I just haven't been able to buy better games until recently. That said, I'm waiting for E3 and a look at Destiny 2 before I totally jump ship because I love the grimoire to pieces and see endless potential in this IP, provided Bungie can ever get their shit together. You say it's been getting worse when it's really been getting better, at least in some respects. PvP is an unbalanced nightmare to be sure, but they're on the right track to balancing it - just a few more tweaks and it'll get there. My personal belief, is that this whole game has been 1 2-year long beta and it wouldn't be the 1st time a new franchise got it wrong with the 1st game only to come out swinging for the fences and knock it out of the park with the sequel. Anything less will only tarnish bungie's name further and quite possibly end the IP before they even get to game 3, nevermind 5.

          • I haven't played in a while either. The direction bungie is taking the game with microtransactions isn't for me. Also the pvp is the worst among any mainstream game out right now. RIP Destiny

Honestly no one cares. When I stopped playing Battlefield I didn't go post this shit on their forums. I just stopped playing and posting.

                  • Ha, I'm a beta player and I left in late September. Destiny had potential, but Bungievision wasted all of it when they decided to milk the community with their shit DLCs. Destiny just lost all of it's appeal to me, and now other, better games have taken it's place. See ya, Destiny.

I am too a beta player, have played this game almost everyday, but these "booster packs" is were i draw the -blam!-ing line! "Cosmetic only" they said. -blam!-ing bungie. As you said this game had/has potential, but only if bungie pulls their shit together. I also quit recently, but i am still on the forums hoping for good news, only too get more microtransactions.

hmm...98, that would make you around 18 right? Dear lord do you not know how to format/structure during high school? That post was not easy on the eyes. I left the game too but check the forums a couple of times around once a month or so to see if the game has anything interesting for the community. nope. nope. nope. nada. It's pretty obvious the game is going through a major dry spell right now and to be honest with you, I don't see them recovering from it in a way that can bring back the hardcore's who left. Once a true hardcore has left a game properly. They have left the game completely, even if a DLC is enticing enough to get their attention. This is because they have found a way to beat the game, by kicking it out of their system completely. Just think about the dudes who have left their chosen MMO of poison and have found a way to reintegrate into society now. With a post like yours, I don't think you're one of those dudes. You sound too addicted. But hey prove me wrong, right?

                            • I'm with you.Everything you said , is dead on for me. I lurk the forums to see whats going on. In the hope that some new secrete gets revealed. But I haven't played since hard mode came out. Something happened with the game that took the fun out of it. I know the new economy did a lot of it, but also the impact of pretty much loosing all our year one weapons was a killer. All that grinding for nothing. and thats exactly what it felt like. All my old friends have left and I have made a few new one's but they don't seem to stick around very long in the game. Maybe a month and then their off on another game. I did come back last week and try IB. That was horrendous. Never saw so many players vanishing from one point to the next, ever. It was really unplayable. If I have to put my finger on one thing that killed it for me and all of my friends. It would be the year one weapons being made useless. That was why we played before, was to grind and get those weapons and gear. Some people would grind for months, just to get a gally or a ice breaker. Bungie, inadvertently made their own game irrelevant to the year one players. Now we all see that there is no way to really become a legend. Your just another Mario running thru a puzzle. Puzzle done. Game over.

                              * No one on my friendlist is playing the game * Trying to get a non-VG strike started is futile. * Even VG strikes take a while to fill up - assuming you even get a match * The classic playlist has completely dried out * I have long queue times in control/clash too. Hell, even IB matches started with less than 12 players on a couple of occassions. *#LFG is is moving significally slower and for the past couple of weeks I've ran into the same people on quite a few occassions. That shouldnt happen in a game that is said to have millions of players. *#The quality of players from #LFG has significally dropped. My guess? Most of the expereinced players have moved on and we're stuck with people who don't play much or just picked up the game, ie people who still have reasons to play. *Many of the streamers have moved on or are streaming less, both in total time and frequency. And when it's time for Bungie to get their shit together they're doing the complete opposite by announcing that 2016 won't see any proper DLC. It's like they're intentionally trying to kill the game and perhaps foremost their deal with Activision. The Microsoft days arent looking so bad now, are they. Bungie? As a player I sure as hell miss them, the only issues we as players had back then were other players.

                                    • Good post good luck guardian hopefully one day destiny will give us all a reason to be truly deeply excited again. I followed this game the moment info on it hit the net. I had and in one form or another still have hope for this game and I truly would love for it to be awsome. With the Division just over the horizon which will be the first game on console that will be direct competition to this type of gaming Bungie and Activision will have to truly step up their game.
