Two thumbs up, except for the part about Cayde. I've gone against that specific "Cayde = Rasputin" theory multiple times. The only thing that suggest it is the words of Andal Brask, Cayde's close friend and a notorious creator of crazy stories. While I'm not denying a connection between Cayde and Ras, I don't think they're one and the same

Actually the way this post phrases it I finally have to pull the other way. Cayde-6 isn't Rasputin, Cayde-6 is the human consciousness in an Exo shell, but that doesn't mean Rasputin wasn't once in the same Exo shell. It might be that Andal had actually understood that, and was trying to get Cayde-6 to realize it too. Maybe Cayde-6 would have actual pull on Rasputin then, like a residual tie to him.
-
But how would Andal possibly know that? This was before Rasputin was discovered deep in the Cosmodrome, when his survival was mere rumor
-
EXACTLY Andal was a Hunter, and clearly a great one. IF he had discovered that all Exos were once controlled by Rasputin/other warminds, then convincing Cayde-6 that he's Rasputin is the most logical action. It's literally a last ditch effort, a mercy play!
-
You've lost me, honestly. Rasputin controlling the Exos, most likely as a general, doesn't mean that Cayde's body once served as a proxy for Rasputin. And how would it be a last ditch effort?
-
Getting Rasputin back up and working for us is the second best chance we stand at surviving. Cayde-6 broke into the bunker before Rasputin woke. He had residual memories of Rasputin's usage.
-
But if Rasputin once was in Cayde's body, telling Cayde he is Rasputin would have no effect on the real Ras
-
I think Cayde being able to break into Rasputin might suggest he has some residual memories from when Rasputin inhabited his body, because such knowledge might aid him in his break-in. I don't think it's a coincidence that Cayde was said to be Rasputin, and then Cayde becomes the first person (that we know of) to successfully break into Rasputin. I'm going to dive deep into speculation now, but Maybe the break-in itself was planned by Rasputin to fulfill some function. Cayde could have been unknowingly directed by a hidden program Rasputin implanted in his brain long ago.

No, and that's not what he wants. I'll try collecting all my thoughts on this when I get home, I have to check some things now.

Alright, I don't fully believe in it one way or another, but I felt like it should be mentioned.
