It's cheesy if you camp in a lane and just stare down your scope for 5+ seconds.
Which is why the game shouldn't have a radar. Or a radar that pings and shows red once every couple of seconds. Shotguns and flanking keep snipers honest and on the move. If you want to snipe, you should be forced to search for kills. Not camp for them.
Imagine a game where every player just pulled up a sniper, waiting down some lane, and just chilled. If everyone did it, there would be no game. Or a really, really awful one.
Games should have some people running around flanking with shotguns, some snipers picking their spots, and then if no one is there, moving to the next. Some players should be using pulse rifles or scout rifles from longer range, auto rifles and hand cannons from shorter range. We should see a fair mix of it.
Do we? Do we see any sort of balance with playstyles?
No.
We see people picking the nearest lane and standing in it, aiming down their 1k stare sights. If they see red on the radar, point and aim and wait. If they see red close, pull out your last word and lead with a grenade and push, or just back pedal until the other guy pushes.
LOL Destiny.
