I don't understand why anyone would follow just an average person anyway, whether they like them or not. I can understand following celebrities and the like, though I don't do it myself, but why would you follow some random person who is really no different from anyone else?

Well, lots of average people are fun to talk to and interact with. I follow "average" people who are interesting, clever, funny or some combination of these. Some of the people I follow are just good friends of mine.

I suppose following your friends makes sense. I haven't found anyone on Twitter who says anything that's worth listening to though. Well not compared to the people I'm friends with IRL anyway, none of whom use Twitter.

I follow about 1,500 people and obviously don't talk with all of them. I just like to follow my timeline, see what they post and if I see something interesting, I reply or retweet. If I see something stupid, I unfollow them, simple as that.
