Hey folks. Now before you all get your pitchforks out, I'm not suggesting that what we have in the game so far is bad. It's not. We have a lot of stuff to play with, Iron Banner, SRL, Raids, Prison of Elders etc.. However, I do really like my idea here and I think you will too.
The Labyrinth:
Picture a three stage labyrinth that requires a fireteam of three. You're dropped into the labyrinth and you have no idea where to go. It's got high walls so you can't cheat or hop on top. It's tight and narrow, and full of high level enemies as well as gorgons. Much like a garden maze, you have no clue as to where to go. It's procedurally generated, which means the walls will change order and the path will change each week, making sure that nearly every run through is unique and not something that you could even bother to memorize.
At the end of each stage, you and your fireteam need to take down a boss of some form. The labyrinth could even separate you all so you all have to kill your own bosses in order to proceed to stage two. Each stage gets tougher and tougher, longer and tighter, with increasingly difficult enemies to encounter along the way. To spice things up a bit, there'll be some huge beast (much like DarkBlade) following you along the way. One hit from this guy and you're dead. He doesn't take damage, which means encountering him will be hopeless. Much like Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. Or Nemesis from Resident Evil. Just to add a lot of tension whilst you make your way through. At the end of stage three, you make it to a final room where you can finally all band together and kill this DarkBlade-like enemy, beat the Labyrinth and claim your weekly rewards.
I honestly think that something like this would be fantastic. Super tough to beat, really hard to master and offers unique rewards. Having it procedurally generated means that it's something that changes every week so you cant memorize the pattern. What do you guys think? Yay or nay? Vote - even though the voting seems to be broken...

Sorry for the late reply here folks. Thanks for all the support :)

The procedurally generated thing would not work. The amount of work involved in adding something like that is why that it will never happen...... But.... Just have about 5 maps. Maybe more. Same concept, they're all mazes. When you spawn in they will look the same but the corridors and turns and whatnot will change. That way you don't know which map you have, so you can't go YouTube it and cheese walk to the end. Also at the spawn point I imagine a big open room with doors on all sides. Put The dark blade creature, or bad guy that will eat your soul, in the room with you. That way you have to run immediately and can't poke around and look. I would make this creature teleport randomly. So if one guy is being chased he can't just draw his attention away from teammates. Either that, or make him slow and heavy. You can easily outrun him. However if you find a dead end, there is not getting past him. You'll be back-to-the-wall shooting him as he draws closer and closer, finally reaching you and ending you. If you did this, then as soon as your team mate goes down, he should disappear and reappear somewhere else. Now stalking another player. You have to make it to your team mate and revive him and hope not to encounter Bob(the bad guy) At the end, have three plates you have to stand on to open a door. That way all three must make it there to progress. Maybe add creepy new enemies? Or vex cyclops everywhere? Gorgons would be scary as shit. So would the kamikaze dudes at Atheon. Maybe you could build on this and make it a pvp game mode! Three people defend the exit or base or whatever, three people attack. Objective is to reach the exit.

Edited by SevSpartan: 12/19/2015 11:40:33 PMThis is brilliant Set 3 difficulties Easy: no follower beast thingy or gorgons Normal: beast thing spawns o a delay and gorgons added Hard: beast spawns immediately and more gorgons And another comment said to call it the labyrinth of yuul and i concur
-
Are you thinking of prison of elders elite mode?

Edited by Sarsion: 12/19/2015 9:40:40 PMCame here from a post on Bungie's Facebook link to the Weekly Update. I actually really enjoy this idea conceptually. Sounds like something that could be part of another Vex event (Minotaur, anyone?). Though, I think it would have to be a segment of a raid, as I'm not so sure it could warrant an event space all of its own. That said, it could be called something like Labyrinth of the Nine and set it on a suspended structure in the clouds of Jupiter? Or on Europa somewhere? I'm picturing a Black Garden theme to it. I imagine Bungie already has their own plans set in motion for Destiny's immediate future, but I would definitely enjoy seeing something like this.

That sounds great. I think the stalking darkblade would be good but there should be ways to escape him, like small, thin corridors to run down. The gorgons would be good. It'll be a major challenge. Call it, the labyrinth of yuul.

I agree

There should be a competitive 3v3 version of this in which both teams spawn in opposite sides and have to race to the other side. Getting killed resets your progress and sends you to the beginning. First team to the other side wins.

Yes, good idea

Sounds fun.
