Edited by Alan: 12/18/2015 6:05:43 AM**maybe spoilers for some*** The did not know the attack she conjoined with the techenun (hope that's right) to strike the dreadnaught was going to fail because Toland more than likely did not leave something behind for Eris to see from his journals, simple lack of knowledge. The super weapon of the dreadnaught could have very well powered the apparent shield to take on such attack. Also, you have to keep in mind that the time frame in which things are presented can be interpreted differently. Who's to say the cabal where there first? We were deep enough inside the dreadnaught not to feel a blast, so for all we know they just coincidentally blasted through the dark thing when we just got done weakening the super weapon. Life can be crazy like that in games too 😂

The hull breach was made by all the guardian bodies launched into space by cabal phalanxes
-
No you misunderstand the timeline of events. LITERALLY right after you take out the weapon aboard the Dreadnought, Your actions also cause a disabling of the Dreadnaught's shields. After the complete massacre of the taken attack on Phobos the Cabal kept a keen eye on the status of the Dreadnaught. Seeing the shields disabled the cabal immediately commence their plan of turning their ship into a beach head on the Dreadnaught. So when you see the cabal ship crashed for the first time. It LITERALLY just happened. Question answered.

Force/mass/motion
-
Best guess is the gun we take out in the first mission on the ship also had something to do with the shields...if you think about it the cabal ship only crashes into it after the gun goes down
-
Your guardian sneaks inside an takes down it's shield in the story missions
-
Space magic thats how
-
They probably had a single major Phalanx at the bow to shield bash the ship as they rammed.

Do we even know for sure she was trying to destroy it?? Plot twist?
