At the moment the meta for this game happens to consist of high aim assist snipers(1000 yard stare), the MIDA-multitool(high aim assist), and weapons that have upgrades that generally increase stat values outside of its first upgrade tree.
Suggestions:
Sniper Rifles
-Increased stow times
MIDA-Multitool
-Slightly decrease aim assist to 82
That is the second highest aim assist scout rifle. The Mida currently stands at 90 Aim assist.
Auto rifles
-Increase stability
(For consistency in close to mid ranges)
Relative to the autorifle archetype. Higher stability buff to high impact/Low rof auto rifles. A player should seldomly have to worry about hitting auto rifle shots from close to medium ranges.
-Slightly decreased accuracy
(For less consistency past mid ranges)
Fusion rifles
-Restore previous numbers
Nobody EVER asked bungie to change these. Their stats need to hold solid as they were after they slightly tweaked the cone.
Heavy machine guns
Most heavy machine guns have no problems performing from longer distances. The differences between each heavy machine gun is not enough to choose choose one over something with high stability and impact.
-Decrease range values
Consistent upgrades
Rangefinder ruins shotgun balance.
Range finder, Hidden hand, headseeker, and other upgrades that give actively consistent buffs should not be given as random rolls on any weapons. They increase weapon stat values without correct compensation within an upgrade path. They should be upgrades that are predetermined on specific weapons, that way their stats can be balanced fairly. Otherwise everyone will only build weapons to push stats.
This can be done on weapons that are dropped within certain public event, and in raids. Giving players more incentive to look for these weapons.
An example would be the Found Verdict, the gun drops with the same rolls and was highly sought after. Not to say that would be the only rolls, but they would be the kind you normally dont get or see.
Truth
-Remove tripod
The truth is an accurate weapon. When aimed correctly the kill is certain. With no need to reload after every 2 rockets the amount of time it takes to get a kill can easily out do any other rocket/Heavy weapon. This can be seen most specifically in Trials of Osiris.
Dragon's Breath
-Switch Trigger release to trigger press
-Add burn damage
-Increase reload time
All exotic heavy weapons, including rocket launchers should by default automatically spawn with slightly larger amounts of heavy ammo. Every rocket launcher should have 3 rockets, as they do take up an exotic slot.
This is also a discussion on how to improve the gun balance in the game as well as their mechanics. Whats above are just my personal ideas. Comment below if you have anything solid to conrtibute or build off of. Otherwise do not comment.
