Just bought my pre-ordered copy of ODST tonight. Picked it up at 12:22 am and quickly drove it home to play. Already had friends lined up to do 4 player co-op. $60.00 for 3 new multiplayer maps that will be free in another 2 months, and a 5 hour campaign... That doesn't sound good I thought, but then this is Halo and we have all of the previous titles and loved each one. That list includes Halo Wars... Therefore I thought that this one has to be good. Long story short, the 4 of us all agreed that this is a terrible game which is chock full of shortcuts and unpolished hogwash. I plan to take my copy back to the store when it opens for my money back! Bungie - This is not worth $60.00 - not even close. This is a crappy game and that is coming from a Halo-fanboy. You guys lost a customer tonight. I won't buy another one of your titles. I am extremely disappointed by this game.

I do still monitor it. I will also be posting my thoughts about Halo 4 soon. I think this is a great discussion minus all the children on here.
Posted by: Water Beetle It mainly continues because it was recently discovered that Easy1JM stil monitors it. Guys, he's never going to accept our reasons why ODST is good, and we won't accept his reasons for it being bad. Just let this thread die, no good will come out of it.
I appreciate your thoughtful comments.
Posted by: Dark Hunter21 OP, I would just like to inform you Bungie just wanted to make this an expansion. It was an M$ idea to make it a separate game. At the time, paying 60$ for a smaller Campaign and everything else would have seemed like a ripoff, and your initial anger is extremely justified. However, its a wonderful game, and since I had been against (and still am) any paid online form of DLC, it gave me a chance to try ALL of Halo 3 maps.

Posted by: KaneXX12 This is a game that Bungie didn't have a long time to make. And it was pretty good.
reach took longer, and turned out far worse. Guess length doesnt always count.

This is a game that Bungie didn't have a long time to make. And it was pretty good. And how about paragraphs instead of a wall of text next time?
Posted by: RookieRules I like the game for the subtle character development between Vergil and Rookie. It was good story and it should be praised trying out some new stuff.
Agree story was good ... and a nice way of delivering it (including the terminal throw back to past bungie games) ... but it should have been let to have a life of its own (like reach) - not just try and cash in on an already successful brand. It just cheapens the final product ... plus leads people into false expectations & judgements.
Posted by: TR0YNAD0 Ok, so bungie made 1 game that you didn't like. Big deal. Get over it!!!
Thats the problem ... most people did get over it ... and the cheap arsed bungie went and did the same trick with reach. Thats what happens when you dont continue to voice your disappointment. Kinda happy that Microsoft kicked bungie out of halo, add to that bungies failure at playing publisher (aerospace - aka waste-of-space). Karma kicks arse.

Agreed I really enjoyed ODST but that one thing about how the enemy knew exactly knew where you were when you fired your weapon was quite iritating. I am glad that we finally got to see a different point of view in the halo universe though besides from the Chief's perspective it was an game that made co-op quite entertaining and fun, but as to all, to each their own.

Wow! 3 years? That's pretty amazing. Too bad it was just a rage thread....
Posted by: VOPOGON Is Halo 3 ODST out yet?
The real question is when is ODST 2 coming out? ;)

The thing I didn't like was that stealth was impossible. If you fired one shot from a "silenced" weapon every enemy in the area immediately knew where you were. Other than that it was fun.

It Sucks...your moms breastwork.

I'm going to totally not bump this thread by saying how we should all not bump it. "Hmm seems legit"
Posted by: TR0YNAD0 Ok, so bungie made 1 game that you didn't like. Big deal. Get over it!!! Nobody cares if you don't like it! And not buying any other games because of it? Don't be a crybaby.
This thread is 3 years old. Congratulations on not contributing anything to anything.

EDIT: Sorry for continuing the life of this thread.
Posted by: I FROTH ON YOU When I read the title, I totally expected to come in to a bunch of people agreeing and expressing their disappointment with ODST. I'm totally shocked to see how many people actually enjoyed it. Or at least defend it. I thought it was an abomination. I've never played a less enjoyable campaign, even far outside of the Halo franchise. The collectibles were atrocious, the town that acted as the hub to each level was more samey than a dungeon crawler, and the gameplay was horrendous. Huh. I really am shocked people enjoyed this game. But to each their own.
Well that's like your opinion, man. I have to disagree. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be fun to debate your sweeping statements of malcontent if you don't first provide negative points about the game that are more specific. Also, I am curious about your definition of "gameplay". ODST's gameplay seems to be quite similar to Halo 3's. Did you also think Halo 3's gameplay was "horrendous"?
