Brumal Insurgence Mission 6
Havent read the previous parts? Here's the Master Post
Mission 6: Heart of Frost The mission is on Europa You are flying in. "The assault on the Dreadnaught was a massacre. Many fighters killed. Mara Sov dead. The Queen's Brother, Prince Uldren survived. His ship crashed on Mars. By the time Petra got to his ship, he was captured by the Cabal. The Insurgents and Kings must have stole him from Cabal to force Reef's hand. Rescue him, Guardian. He is The Reef's new ruler." Variks You spawn in at the Borean Gardens. You make your way to the Ice Mines. There is a Heavy Pike there. You take it and blow through the Kings and Insurgents and move into the mines. You reach the end of the mine but path continues without tracks. You enter a new area, Glacier's Labyrinth "Be careful. The Kings filled the place with traps and false paths."- Variks It is a labyrinth with traps like thin ice that looks solid but will break and drop you to your death or a patch of slippery ice that will slide you into a pit. It is long and windy. Easy to get lost. The mission version is actually smaller than accessible in Patrol. Once you are through the maze you reach a large domed room called the Crystal Stockade. "Look! It's the Prince!"- Ghost There are dead Cabal bodies littered about. Some ranking Cabal partially frozen in ice, trying fruitlessly to escape. Right in the center is Prince Uldren, shackled to the wall. He appears passed out or asleep. The guards notice you and you kill them. You approach Uldren and a cutscene begins. "Um... should you slap him?"- Ghost Uldren looks up slowly. "That will not be necessary. Now get me out of these chains."- Uldren You shoot shackles and they fall to the ground. Uldren stands up, looks at his wrists and shakes himself off. "To be honest I didn't think I would get out of here. Let alone by you."- Uldren Your ghost does that thing where you think he is frowning. You butt in. "We're not out yet."- you An alarm sounds three times and the cave starts shaking. By the wall is a hurt Vandal. He hisses at you. Before you can react Uldren takes your gun and kills the Vandal. "Serves him right."- Uldren "If they didn't already know we are here, they do know. Let's move."- Ghost Uldren walks over to a table and picks up a handcannon, inspects it, and holsters it. The cave shakes more. This time some ice falls from the ceiling. The cut scene ends. You make your way back through the Labyrinth, Uldren close behind. He helps kill adds and jumps over holes and whatnot. The cave is now constantly shaking now, parts of the Labyrinth are closed off now and other parts open. You can sort of tell the way by the direction the adds come from. You get out of the Labyrinth and the Mine and are greeted by a Royal Spider clinging to the Glacier wall above you. "I have not seen an Spider since... no matter, Guardian. Kill it dead. Aim for the gas tanks."- Variks "I'll get the turret."- Uldren He nimbly clumps up the side of the glacier to an outcropping with a turret on it and starts shooting the Spider. A Spider, is a piece of Fallen Technology from their lost Golden Age. It is reminiscent of a Walker, but quite different. It is much more blocky and steampunk- like. It is painted black with bright yellow highlights. It has 8 legs, each dug into the side of the glacier. On its back is a flamethrower that pivots 360 degrees. It throws the fire in an arc that follows gravity. It can stick to almost any surface, in this case a glacier wall. It is also equiped with Liquid Methane Canisters, which releases a cloud of supercooled air where the canisters land , slowing and damaging enemies cought inside. If this cloud of methane comes in contact with flame, it will ignite, causing anything still inside the cloud to burn. The Spider is the ultimate versatile weapon, meant to be deployed anywhere for any sort of tactical purposes. They are very rare. They are much stronger than Walkers, but still have a weakness. There is a a tank of liquid methane on the other side of the flamethrower. If you were to puncture the tank, it would create a large cloud of gas around the Spider. Igniting that cloud, either with an ability or with the Spider's fire itself will deal an intense amount of damage to the machine. After a long and perilous fight with the Royal Walker, it makes one last mechanical screeching noise and falls off of the glacier wall, crushing some Insurgents and Kings along with it. Uldren hops down from the turret. (You can really see the pain in his face when he says is). "The Reef is greatly in your debt. Now if you excuse me I have a civilization to run."- Uldren and he is teleported into his ship, now above you, and flies away. "Remember when he told us we were going to die on Venus. I do."- Ghost "Yes, Prince Uldren can be... thick headed at times. But he the heir to the Reef and must be held as such. Thank you. House Judgement will not forget all you have done for it. For Variks. A payment is in order, yes? A reward for your help and friendship. Come to the Reef, Guardian. I have gifts for you." The mission ends.
