How about "Thank a Vet" instead...

Refer a Friend is a slap in the face for Year 1 vets, hell even for TTK guardians! If you have played this for months or over a year, the chances of this being a doable quest are very low. Hey Bungie... How about THANK A VET? You could support at REAL cause like U.S. veterans. You could show APPRECIATION for your customers who already bought your game. Twice. You could do something fun and positive for your fanbase instead of EXPLOITING THEM. Crazy concept. EDIT: changed US to U.S. To alleviate confusion. EDIT: This is not a post trying to stir the pot and create controversy about military or political views. It is just a suggestion for Bungie to use their power/popularity for a noble cause instead of straight money grabs. People who want to hijack the thread just to spew anti military or anti American BS are missing the point. While it is entertaining to watch them dig their own little (a few huge) holes please leave that stuff at the door. Thanks for the positive posts. EDIT: Forget it. A lot of you have just used this as a place to spread your agenda of hate, disrespect and low intelligence. The idea is to use Destiny's popularity for a good cause instead of greed. Most of you can't see past the tiny details: "Destiny is played in other countries" "I don't like war, soldiers etc" Fine come up with something else or just leave then. This was in no way a fully realized plan, it was an idea. People are so up in arms to shoot everything down and keep paying Bungie that they behave like jerks. Forget I said anything. Enjoy referring a friend and filling Bungie's pockets as their unpaid marketers. Bye.

  • Why should we thank Veterinarians? They help my dog feel well...but this is too much for them. This idea is absurd! They already charge me enough for my dog and two cats why should I do this.

As a Veteran I feel this would be idiotic. I would have to give personal documents to Bungie. No offense to Bungie employees but I don't trust nobody with my social etc. How about we just use refer a friend since it benefits everyone. K Bye.

I am completely for supporting the military/navy in any way, I feel us actual day 1 players deserve something more for beta testing their false advertised hollow shell of a game that THEY messed up. I don't mean year 1 players either, not the players that started at DB or at HoW or TTk, I mean day fcking 1 players, us players that found out first hand how bad that story was, us players that had to go farm all them mats ourselves, only having 5 bounties and the nightfall was absolute hell at level 28. Reward the players that have actually put in the thousands of hours since day 1 and put up with all your bullsh!t Bungie. Not some fancy emblem that everyone will have, improvise and suprise us, you always love being right against the community because we are always wrong anyways, heres a better chance for you to put that into practice.

      • Does the military really have an affect on national safety? I respect the veterans of the wwi wwIi and other wars such as the Vietnam War, but nowadays, it seems we just hunt people hiding in rocks, with no real gain to either resources of freedom. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if terrorist things started happening here just like in Paris. As long as they believe they're helping though, let them be.

            • I disagree, there should never be rewards exclusive to one type of person (or one set of people). Lets say I'm a child. I would never be able to earn those rewards, because I am physically incapable of earning those rewards. Let's say I'm from Canada. I would not be able to earn those rewards, since I'm not from the U.S. Plus, the process for such items would be abused. Remember Red Bull? Yeah... I would hate for that to happen again. TLDR: there should never be rewards that are impossible for someone to get. I love the idea of giving to vets, but exclusives are not the way to do it.

              • Marine vet here. I see what you're trying to do, and while you do have good intentions it would restrict in game content (even if it's just a shader or emblem), to a limited number of players, and many of the players who would get passed over simply because of age. Also, not just US vets... This is an international game, and our foreign allies deserve the same level of recognition, if any, that a US veteran would get. If you really want to thank one, don't vote for dipshit politicians. Got my GI Bill, working on my healthcare, don't need much else.

                  • Leave the US Vets out of this. Vets did not volunteer for the military to get free stuff. More so in a video game. If bungie cared about this game, reward the vanilla Vets from y1.

Because they didn't give vets stuff, thank them, then give them more. Oh wait, they did that already. Short term memory, or just greedy because you didn't get something someone else did? Also, do people still not understand wtf the whole point of a business is? Every game developer and publisher that has ever existed exists to make money for their work.

People that don't say thank you for any type of service(whether it's flipping a burger, serving in any nations military, or just giving out a helping hand) is most likely just a filthy snake. Deceiving and filthy. What's so wrong with saying thank you? Get some manners you pieces of scum. I'm out. Sincerely, Not a piece of scum.
your scum, you trash can
Lol, they thank us Vets all of the time by Nerfing this and Promising that, so alot of them leave to play new games and I guess there's nothing that Bungie can do to bring them back SO they take the Refer A Friend route and ask us to Refer people for the reward of a shader=thats probably Ugly, an emblem=that will probably be cool looking for a week and then become Stuck in your inventory like glue, and a sparrow will be slower than Time breaker, so yea all of this is a Huge slap in the face if you ask me Edit: Refer A friend(mainly becasue I convinced many people to buy Destiny last year and now this lol) is THE ONLY thing that have every disliked about Destiny, I LOVE THIS GAME AND I'M GONNA PLAY AS LONG AS I CAN!

                        • I have no doubt that the veterans that fight for this country are pure at heart, but the entire concept of killing is horrid. Even if it is for a greater good, killing is never truly justified. You may have killed someone to protect those who you care for and I respect that very much, but you must also remember what you did. You ended a life. The person may have been the most evil person in existence, but you must not forget what you did. It's a sad life when death is necessary for the safety of peace. It's paradoxical and it's tragic. Whether you take lives in the name of good or evil, you must remember that you are accountable for the act. The blood is on your hands. This isn't always a bad thing; the pain may motivate you to seek good in the world. I guess in the grand scheme of things, death is the road to awe.

                          • Im so tired of people saying to thank a vet. Our country is in shambles because of our military. Overspending money and deploying lives into areas we should not be. Constructing swords across the worlds and proclaiming them as shields.

                            • I'm against the military vets idea. There are many worthwhile causes and as a Brit I would want one for my own country, not the U.S., probably all the non American guardians out there would want the same. How about we just thank our Destiny Vets, those who have put up with Bungies shit for long enough but still soldier on?
