Refer a Friend is a slap in the face for Year 1 vets, hell even for TTK guardians! If you have played this for months or over a year, the chances of this being a doable quest are very low.
Hey Bungie... How about THANK A VET?
You could support at REAL cause like U.S. veterans.
You could show APPRECIATION for your customers who already bought your game. Twice.
You could do something fun and positive for your fanbase instead of EXPLOITING THEM.
Crazy concept.
EDIT: changed US to U.S. To alleviate confusion.
EDIT: This is not a post trying to stir the pot and create controversy about military or political views. It is just a suggestion for Bungie to use their power/popularity for a noble cause instead of straight money grabs.
People who want to hijack the thread just to spew anti military or anti American BS are missing the point. While it is entertaining to watch them dig their own little (a few huge) holes please leave that stuff at the door.
Thanks for the positive posts.
EDIT: Forget it. A lot of you have just used this as a place to spread your agenda of hate, disrespect and low intelligence. The idea is to use Destiny's popularity for a good cause instead of greed. Most of you can't see past the tiny details:
"Destiny is played in other countries"
"I don't like war, soldiers etc"
Fine come up with something else or just leave then. This was in no way a fully realized plan, it was an idea. People are so up in arms to shoot everything down and keep paying Bungie that they behave like jerks.
Forget I said anything. Enjoy referring a friend and filling Bungie's pockets as their unpaid marketers.
Bye.

As a veteran myself..... We get plenty of respect, stop expecting everyone to suck your dick because you served your country.
-
More entitlement...the addiction is real!!!.
-
Good post Where did all the ungrateful ass scrubs come from? If you don't respect Vets, take your sorry ass to China and don't come back. The "I have my hand out" generation is killing this country. Bunch of worthless sheep.

Edited by Dyalar: 11/24/2015 8:05:26 PMI'm a Marine Corps veteran. If you want to show your appreciation, stop making shit posts like these. Bad for my blood pressure. I got an engineering degree with my GI Bill and free pancakes on Nov 11th for life. All the thanks I need.

that is a good idea

Simple solution #bungie: 1000 hours unlocks a new emote, 1500 a shader, 2000 hours unlock the sparrow etc etc. BAM the loyal fan base is rewarded.
-
wherever an american goes he is gonna bring up the "respect the vet" crap , seriously every -blam!-ing where. Im not disrespecting at all , like respect for what you've done in ANY country. But its ridiculous anywhere you look its useless Attention calling for that , i don't get it
-
Veterans is always capitalized. That is all.
-
This trend of hating on Bungie for everything they do has to stop. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that refer a friend thing. The only reason anyone cares is because they don't have a cool black sparrow with lights and stuff. Or they can't high five. Please man. That's ridiculous. If I were working for Bungie I would make KF challenge mode hard as F and lock the most awesome shit you've ever seen behind it just to piss you crying ass babies off. My god...Enough.
-
They shouldn't segment the market at all, especially with gameplay items like the exclusive swords.
-
Well that escalated quickly...
-
Oh I thought you meant actual veterans lmao I was going to agree but I'm also biased.
-
-
Or just a player appreciation gift? Someone else mentioned rewards based on time played. Reward playing, not suckering others to play -_-
-
Woah sir, that would make sense. Bungie ain't about that life as it is far less profitable (in their eyes). Honestly, how do they not understand the basic principle of any business of keeping the customers happy to offer repeat business. Is it really this hard to grasp that trying to retain the current player base is far more profitable than constantly (and desperately) grasping for attention from newer gamers?
-
Ok. Army Veterans (no matter what country they represented) should be respected for their service. However, this is a refer-a-friend thing? I agree there should be something to honour vets globally, but honestly? Keep it out of my video game. People play games to escape the realities of life, no to be constantly reminded of things that happened and will happen again. Again, thanks to all who served across the world, but I imagine you already get the respect you deserve outside of Destiny, and if you don't well there's a problem there.
-
Lmao, i have 98 days on this game. Stuck with it through it's worst content droughts. Don't really have anything too special to show for it tbh.
-
Only absolute fan boys even care about the rewards from it..
-
There's a difference between craving respect and earning it, this is not the way to earn it
