Exotic History: Huntress of the Woods
This installment of Exotic History is made possible by Paradox1055
The footsteps were silent as the woman made her way through the darkened forest. Her breath was gentle and calculative as she moved silently from the brush of the forest. Soon she was perched on top of a branch, overlooking the cliffside. As she spotted something, she gently pulled an arrow from her collection and notched it into place. She drew back in utter silence as she waited patiently, following her prey. As soon as the wind died, her fingers snapped away from the string, letting the arrow zip forward and making a dull thud as it struck. She moved quickly from branch to branch and found her arrow sticking out of a person's shoulder. Her target was male, dressed in flowing black robes and he looked in pain as he was resting under a tree from his attack. He tried to pull the arrow out of his shoulder but the barbed tip made it sink further into his shoulder. He winced and let go of the shaft. A small white object appeared by his side and spoke in a rather annoying male voice. "Oh crap! Are you hurt?! Are you breathing! Please tell me you are atleast breathing!" The man grunted. "Shut up Jester... I'm alive..." "Oh good lord you scared the crap out of me! I thought you were dead!" "An arrow to the shoulder and you think I'm dead?..." "Its a possibility! You could bleed out! Oh... thats blood." The Ghost fell over, appearing to have fainted. He picked up the white object and shook his head. "Stupid Jester..." The man soon stood up, looked around him and continued to move along. The woman cocked her head in slight curiosity in the safety of the shade of the leaves. She moved quietly and followed him. The white objected perked back up. "Movement.. above us." "I thought so..." The man looked dead at the woman but appeared to be looking for rather than looking at. The woman narrowed her eyes and held her fingers on a small switch on her forearm. The man sighed. "I don't care who you are nor care what you are doing, just leave me to my studies." He turned and continued walking. "Spoken like a true Warlock..." Grumbled the white object. The woman paused. She hopped down and spoke to him quietly. "Why are you here?" "Am I intruding on something?" The Warlock said as he simply continued walking. "This is my home." "Well this is also my study area so if you can leave me be that would be nice." "Leave now." "Or what?" The woman pointed her bow at his shoulder. "I will make you hurt worse." The white object studied the arrow. "That thing has charges on it... the proxy is off but it can still be activated." The Warlock stopped moving and turned back to the woman. His eyes were a bland shade of black and very straight to the point. "Hurting me will get you nowhere." "It will make you leave." "I am studying the Void so I can't leave." The woman paused. "Void?..." "Well since you are so primative, let me explain. I am a Guardian, I have come back from the dead to save the world. I possess the power of the Void, which let's me control dark matter to use as a weapon." "Think of space magic." Said the white object happily. "Space... Magic?..." The woman looked puzzled. "Great you confused her more." "Well your explanation made no sense either." The woman narrowed her eyes. "Can I use this... magic?" The Warlock paused and shrugged his shoulders. "Who knows." "Teach me then." "Yes cause I can teach something highly advanced to someone so below my intelligence level. Makes perfect sense." "Its called teaching for a reason..." mumbled the white object. "You will teach me, and in return, I will not kill you." "And? Based on your physique, you would be a Hunter and Hunters can't use the Void to any sort of proficiency." "Not entirely true, some Warlocks can use Arc abilities through extensive training and there are rumors of Titans with a proficiency for the Solar sector." Said the white object. "Doesn't matter!" Said the Warlock. "She isn't a Hunter! Or a Guardian for that matter! You can't teach what can't be taught!" "She possesses the Light." "What?" "I sense it. She has the potential. She just needs guidance." The Warlock pondered this for a second. "This..could be a break through... This would be an amazing discovery." "And well worth the study time plus it also pertains to the Void so it's a win win for us." The Warlock nodded and looked at the woman. "We have a deal." The woman lowered her bow and stood still. "When do we start?" "As soon as this arrow gets out of my shoulder..." "How bad is... oh more blood...." The white object fainted once more. *** Year later *** The woman swiftly made her way through the woods. She was cloaked in a hood and cape and still carried her trusty bow. It was notched and ready to go. She stopped as something caught her attention. She willed the Void to come to her, drew the bow back and waited. The purple ooze of the Void built around the bow and made it into a slightly more stylish version. She paused and waited as the wind died down. She let go of the string as the arrow of purple black shot forward and stuck something. It exploded in purple light and snagged onto a target. The woman swiftly moved down to investigate. She found the Warlock struggling to get out. "Once again... Nice work..." The Warlock said pitifully. The woman smiled and let the Void go, releasing him. "I don't miss." "I see that. Either way, you have proven well. Now I have to go back and report my findings." The woman frowned a bit. "You are going?" "For a while, I can't just let this phenomenon sit idlely for the world to not know! I would be doing the Hunter's a grave misdeed." "When will you be back." "Months, years? Who knows. I'd have to teach the buggers since no one else can." The woman paused for a bit. "May I come?" "If you so wish, but if you go, you don't come back here." The Warlock started to walk away. "Your choice." The woman thought about this, she set her bow down behind a bush, covered it up and followed the Warlock, determined to return for it one day, but she wanted to teach others how to make their targets stay, and exploit the Void for all its splendor. Thank you all for tuning in! Since I really want this to be a Community thing I would really enjoy getting exotics from you guys and creating back stories for them! In order to do this all you have to do is create an exotic on my friends Exotic page (listed above) and in a spoiler have a hashtag, (#writemyexotichistory), I look their frequently so have a go! Please! And if your creativity is stiffled (or you just don't want to), give me your opinion on what to do for the next installment of Exotic History while I work out my next entry. Post your opinions in the comments below and if these don't suit your fancy there is always an ENTIRE list to browse and choose from so give it a go!! Until then stay within the Light Guardians and remember the silent ones are the most deadly. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/172342396/0/0/1 link to Huntress of the Woods
