Elder Scrolls needs a shake up. Daggerfall was innovating at the time. HUGE inhabited world, dungeons that took weeks to explore, a leveling system that was based off of how you play. (Never played III) Oblivion cut out the fat and beefed up the good bits Skyrim - was more if the same, but dumbed down IMO. The leveling system was fixed a bit (you could really screw up your characters ability to survive before this and sometimes you wouldn't realize it until late in the game). The meat of the game didn't change though. I'm hoping ES VI shakes up the gaming world again. I'm fearful that Bethesda found a formula and it's getting stale. (Still great games though) (I'm really finding most games doing this. The industry as a whole had been getting stale over the past 5 years.)

  • Could you imagine a new ES, and in the process of making it its own new thing, adding an even more polished crafting/smithing/building system? Like you could build castles with dungeons and stuff

A game engine as smooth as Destiny. Bring back the factions of Daggerfall. It was interesting seeing the game from different points of views depending on how you played. If you were from the poor underclass the royal wouldn't talk to you. You would need to help out lower level royalty to get the higher ranking ones to talk to you, and in turn the peasants would grow to resent you. Same with the law vs underground...and more. All your actions had repercussions back then too. In the opening pages of the manual it stated that to experience the full game you should never reload when something doesn't go right. I miss that. ...but the game needs something new too. MMO was the hype for what that new thing would be, but IMO that didn't work out right. Graphics are having diminishing returns. I'd like to see more power go into making the world feel more "alive". Enemy AI needs a work over. Something like the nemesis system but to the 100th degree. It needs to be entwined into factions, power hierarchies, enemy territory control, currency, and more. I want a sandbox game world that I can try my damnedest to break, and I want it to fight back tooth and nail to prevent me from succeeding.

  • Judging by a lot of the reviews for F4, your opinion of a stale formula seems to be shared.
