Guardian Down - Chapter 11

After Glass is a New Home? - [I Love Fillers] "So... How was the Vault for you, guys?" Maria asked over the comm link, kicking back in her ship. "It was sorta fun... Sorta." "Not a pleasant experience..." Rush sighed. "I mean... I actually don't remember." He looked at a photo of just him, holding Crota's sword. Faces flashed quickly on the photo, disorienting him. He shook his head, putting the photo down. "Nah... I didn't enjoy it too much. One out of five." Emilia shouted in the back of Rush's ship, sorting out casual wear. "You need to organize, Rush." She shouted again. "Mmhmm, yeah. Whatever you say... mom..." He mumbled under his breath. Dennis and Zephyr could be heard, their stifling laughters over the link. "He-He sa.. He said-- He said 'mom'." Dennis tried to hold his laughter back. "Hehehe. Haha!" The Exo let his laughter out, filling the comm with just laughter. Gizmo munched silently on doughnuts, listening to Dennis laugh. "Oh, Dennis is awake." Zephyr said, trying to get through to the team over Dennis's laughter. "It really wasn't that funny, Dennis." Maria growled, silencing Dennis. "Sometimes, Exos get annoying..." She sighed, flipping her hair. She was expecting mature members, but found this group instead. "I don't think Maria was much fun at parties..." Gizmo's ghost, Steam, sighed. The Fireteam burst laughing altogether, embarrassing Maria as her face quickly filled with light red. "S--Shut up!" She exclaimed, embarrassed at the very idea of everyone laughing. She quickly cut off her comm link with the rest of her team, her face flushed in red. "I was always fun at parties..." ________________________________________ "Cayde... Cayde... CAYDE!" Ikora yelled, abruptly waking the sleeping Cayde. "WHO? WHAT? WHERE? WHEN? HOW?!" Cayde exclaimed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Oh geez, did I fall asleep again?" He looked at the other two Vanguards who nodded slowly. "Sorry, sorry. Standing here at the Tower... It's a bit boring." "Well, that's your fault." Zavala mumbled, looking off to the distance where Eris was standing. The sound of Guardians running down the stairs, their shouts filling the Hall Of Guardians. "What the hell..." "RUSH, STOP PUSHING!" Zephyr yelled, shoving Rush with his Siphon Strike. "YOU STOP! I'M REPORTING IT TO THE VANGUARDS, AND THAT'S FINAL!" Rush snapped back, growling as he put his hand on his knife. Lord Shaxx spotted the chaos, stepping in between the two Guardians. Rush ran into Shaxx, making him stumble back. "Rush... I expected better from you..." Shaxx bellowed, looking down on Rush. "After all those Crucible kills and medals, this is the way you behave?" "Yes..." Rush replied, looking Shaxx in the eyes. "At least I can listen, unlike you and Lord Saladin at the battle of Twillight Gap!" He snapped back, making Shaxx gasp. A loud "OOOH" could be heard around the Tower, including Cayde. "Burn," Arcite-99, Crucible Quartermaster, monotonously said, slowly applauding. "I like you, Rush. No wonder you're one of the most deadliest in my Crucible... Relentless, merciless... Now get back out there." Shaxx responded, returning to his counter. "He had to bring up Twillight Gap..." He mumbled, cleaning his counter. "I heard that... And thank you, Shaxx..." Rush waved, walking to the Vanguards. "I tend to keep it that way..." He chuckled. "U-Uh... Rush?" Emilia tapped Rush's shoulder. "Did Shaxx just say you're one of the deadliest? I-I don't see that in you... You're too nice for that..." She was confused at the concept. "Where'd you think I got the "Deadeye" part in my name? According to Shaxx, I'm the Guardian with most precision kills. Don't let my nice attitude get the best of you..." Rush replied, walking up to Cayde, ready to report, but Zephyr beat it to him. "Interesting... Thank you for reporting, Zephyr. One of our greatest achievements guarantee." Cayde shook Zephyr's hand, and continued on with his day. Zephyr looked at Rush and stuck his tongue out, teasing him. "I'll meet you back at the bar," he smirked, walking out of the Hall Of Guardians and to the Tower Hanger. Rush crossed his arms and tapping his foot while Emilia was still confused about Rush. A nice guy, deadly? That doesn't make sense... He's kind of--, Emilia thought to herself, turning light blue, shaking her head, and covering her face. I-I shouldn't have thought of that... "Well... I guess we can just meet up at the bar, chill a b-" Rush was interrupted short by his Ghost, Hunt. "I just received a signal... The new place is done." "Haha, no way! That place I ordered long ago is finished?!" Rush jumped in the air, cheering. "Finally. I've been waiting for it since I bought it." "W-Wait... What 'place'?" Emilia asked, slowly removing her hands from her face. Her light-blue hue faded, no longer blushing. "You'll see," replied Rush, "Hunt, take us there. I can't wait to see how it turned out." "Affirmative. Transporting us now..." ________________________________________ "W-Whaaaat?!" Emilia gasped in awe, staring at the building. "Y-You bought this?!" "Sure did... I wasted about 22,000 Glimmer on it, but it was still worth it. I wanted something that could house all team members, and I got it... But this was for the other guys, but I guess it's ours now." Rush replied, setting his hand on the scanner. "I wonder how the others are doing..." ________________________________________ "Where the hell is Rush?" Dennis kicked his feet up on the coffee table. "Probably all lovey-dovey with Emilia..." "True," Gizmo sighed, resting his head on the couch cushion, using his arms as a pillow. "I can see it too, though..." "Gotta admit, she looks pretty nice..." Zephyr inquired, taking a seat on the spare chair. He slouched in the chair, groaning. "Damn..." "... I never get compliments..." Maria mumbled under her breath, yawning. ________________________________________ "Alright, so... Pick a room." Rush gestured his arms towards the long hallway with 7 doors, one of those doors being a bathroom. Emilia peeked in every room, identical to one another except for the door labeled "Rush." "Is-- Is this your room, Rush," she asked, opening the door to find a simple bed and sheets, along with a PC and monitor. "Yeah. Except, I like the room on my ship better. This room is just an extra for me... I gotta get the others here, think they'll mind Hunt?" "On it." Hunt appeared in a blue flash of lights, doing his Ghost things. The rest of the Fireteam landed on the floor with a loud thud. "There you go." He said, disappearing in a flash. "Oooh..." Maria groaned, moving Zephyr off her body. "Where are we?" She mumbled groggily, crawling up from the ground. "Our new house." Rush chuckled. "H-House?!" Dennis jumped up excitedly, removing Gizmo from his body. Gizmo landed with a this and groaned weakly. "Curse you..." Gizmo let out a weak threat, his consciousness fading. "Curse... Youuuuu-," his voice faded, his eyes turning black. "He'll be fine." Dennis waved it off, crashing on the nearby couch. "Just a quick tap, and he'll be back. Also, why didn't you tell us about this place?" "It just got finished. That's the thing. It was meant for my old Fireteam..." Rush sat on one of the spinning chairs. Sighing, he continued. "I paid for it, because it's the person I am. And well, now it's for us." "Did they die or something?" Maria asked, taking off her armor, revealing her Future War Cult shirt. "Like... A accident of something?" "Rather not talk about it at the moment... Anyways, you guys have fun for a bit, yeah? I'm going to rest for a bit." He answered, getting off the chair and walked to his room. ________________________________________ "Oh, Rush..." Emilia said silently in Rush's room, scanning through his shelves. "You're a kind, gentle person. You seriously can't be one of the deadliest in the Crucible... A kind, gentle person can't be harmful, can they?" She picked a book off of his shelf, sitting down to read the book. "It just doesn't seem right," she sighed, opening the book. "Don't judge a book by it's cover." Rush opened the door aggressively, startling Emilia. The book flew into the air, and dropped to the ground with a thud, revealing a page about Fallen and Vex technology. "O-Oh dear..." Emilia held her hand next to her racing heart. "D-Don't scare me like that..." "Why are you even in my room at this time?" Rush sighed, storing his armor somewhere else, revealing his Dead Orbit T-Shirt and black pants. "Sorry for sounding aggressive, just a bit tired, so just kinda... Scoot over for me?" "S-Sure..." She nodded once, still looking at the book and made room for Rush on his bed...
