Pokemon gathered my interests into anime back in 1999 with Red and Blue on the original Game Boy when I was about 14 years old. Got hooked on the show, played a lot of the related titles. Mainly because back then I was a Nintendo fanboy not switching to another choice until 2005 when Xbox 360 debuted a year before its competition. But after halfway watching through the Johto League Champions, I got sick to death of Team Rocket. They appeared in some way, shape or form in every single episode since launch with the exception of the very first and in nearly every appearance they make some stupid plan that never works out in their favor only to be defeated and blast off into the sky. It was tolerable for the Kanto region and Orange Islands but after realizing this f-awful trend wasn't going to go away I gave up on the whole franchise; haven't touched a Pokemon game or watched the show since. Not just Team Rocket never learning from their mistakes but the same thing with Ash meeting a new or returning character who always seems to need his help. Not to mention I found him to not be a likable protagonist compared to many other shows I watched growing up. I ended up settling for a different anime offering which helped me through a very dark period, perhaps the darkest in where my life was ruined; never going to be the same. I'm okay now but still hold dear to this other anime considering it my favorite show, animated or live action, I've ever seen. Although the Fox game show Greed hosted by Chuck Woolery for only one season would be a close second. I doubt I'll ever settle back into Pokemon, mainly because from what I could last gather TR hasn't change their tune since I stopped watching. As for Nintendo itself I feel they're pretty much done. The Wii U was a catastrophic failure and this rumored NX system has yet to see the light of the of day. Microsoft and Sony are helming the console wars now so it wouldn't surprise me to see Nintendo become like Sega, just making games and not systems. Oh well, I had a nice run at least.
