Hey im boff and I make unpopular post that always get down voted ha.
So yeah ive seen a lot of people talking about high aim assist snipers.
The scopes play a big roll in the aim assist values, the gun will have a base stat and then the scopes add to it. Base stats also vary. Scopes can add up to 30 aim assist, for example the base stat for 1000 yard is mid fifties but with the right scope it can be raised to 71.
I understand bungie are trying to make the game as user friendly as possible to get as many people playing
After a year of destiny is it time to take the stabalizers off snipers and reduce the maximum aim assist?
Try and keep the comments constructive.
yes aim assist is needed for console games but does it need to be so high?
Aim assist was just as high for year 1 snipers, but shotguns were so rampant so possibly a reason why it went unnoticed.
it is just coincidence that the best snipers for year one had the highest aim assist...longbow, shadow veil and prudunce.
so...opinions and why not throw drag scoping into the mix and how aim assist helps.
EDIT- so shortgaze isnt the best scope for AA according to some, and other scopes are better.
EDIT 2- shotguns are pretty easy to use, so does the high aim assist on snipers help balance that out by making it a bit easier to use snipers

1 ReplyAs a previous shotgun scrub... No. You can check my stats - I'm a pretty good player but most of the time I enjoyed running shotguns. I got bored. So I'm sniping now and in no way is it comparable. Consider that you have to get a headshot at any range for it to be a one hit kill vs a gun that can one hit kill anywhere on the body as long as it's in x range. The sniper is considerably harder.

No, just because it gives more aim assist and allows you to zoom in a tiny bit faster doesn't take it op

I would rather have my Spear with Ambush scope.

1 ReplyEdited by Sas: 11/3/2015 12:11:12 AMHave you seen planet destiny explaining how aim assist works on snipers? It's nowhere near the Wanted type bullet magic most people think it is... I prefer shortgaze because it's fast and with a low zoom. That's all. On my spear and on my 1k yard stare alike. Edit; added the video

No. Hidden Hand is.

2 RepliesTo clarify, do ambush and shortgaze offer different types of aim assist or does ambush take away some aim assist and shortgaze adds some? I've heard many different explanations.
-
7 RepliesIt's not the aim assist, it's the low zoom scopes themselves. For Bungie to fix snipers, they should increase magnification of all scopes.
-
I personally use ambush, so used to the scope and the stability buff is great.

12 RepliesLol so crutch shotgun perks are being compared to snipers that can have literally any perks & that wouldn't matter at all?

Ambush!!!

7 RepliesEdited by Soul_Eater_42: 11/2/2015 8:50:57 PMDo any of you even know how Aim Assist works, or are you all just looking for reasons to nerf things?
-
Yes it needs to be toned down. You made a good point about shotguns being rampant, but I also think the massive use of Thorn(and its once infinite range) also made us blind to it
-
I've always used shortgaze for the fact that I don't being zoomed in so much
-
1 ReplyMy favorite sniper was Efrideets Spear because it has next to no aim assist and has max impact for a sniper

2 RepliesI used to play cod back in the day without aim assist.

14 RepliesEdited by El_Chunky: 11/2/2015 5:58:20 PMI've been holding this question for a while because I know I suck for not knowing, but I'm having a really terrible day, and I'm just trying to set my mind on something different other than the problem... What does aim assist do exactly? Does it moves your crosshair to the head of someone you are aiming at? Does it moves your crosshair to the enemy's body if it is close enough? Does it allows you to hit a headshot even if the crosshair is aiming to the shoulders for example? Thanks in advance to anyone that takes some of their time to answer, because life is terrible right now
