I feel peaceful if I go to one and I'm all alone or if I'm in a group of people and we're the only ones there. If other people I don't know are there I feel slightly awkward. Probably because I have always thought that paying respects to your related deceased was preferably done in privacy.

Trust me, unless you're really close to them or actively drawing attention to yourself somehow, it's doubtful they even notice you. Although it's good of you to respect the privacy of others, I commend you for that. :)
