I know as a young person today figuring out a direction in life can be difficult. Luckily for me I knew the direction I wanted to go, but I needed a foot in the door. So I was told about Americorps. Americorps is basically a program that allows you to apply for an internship in a field of your choice with a program of your choice. It's a great resume builder and a good way to try a field out to see if its for you. This gives you the opportunity to look at fields of work from an experience point of view and make good decisions about your future as well as get some college money. I interned in the Florida State Parks program and that got me set on the path to wildland firefighting which is something Im very happy I got into. So if you're needing some options check out the program (just Google it) it helped me when I was 18 and it may help some of you too.
