User: X has been banned for a period of X days due to violating the code of conduct. The User violated the code of conduct's limitations of (random example) the offensive usage of curse words, specifically the "F" word.
Thanks for the suggestion, we will consider this. We are always working on improving Bungie.net with new features and appreciate your ideas.
The entire code of it right now is vague and not clear enough, allowing too much room for misinterpretation.
It all comes down to not posting personal insults to other people here. That's the main thing that gets people in trouble. For the other stuff, the Ninjas have a guideline to help you out. So your second suggestion has already been put in place. It's not a comprehensive list of rules, but should help you out. If you show up here, discuss Destiny, and give constructive feedback without putting anyone else down, you will be fine.

  • If you're job actually had a good cause besides being completely obsequious, I'd say good job :) But it doesn't... Just remember people are starting see what is actually going on and despite what you're company's double standard policy states; its apparent you guys had deeper reason to silence x person.... And for that I SAY BLAM YOU!!!!

This is ridiculous. It dont matter if anyone like his opinion or not. But he seems to have eyes all over him just wating to pull the plug. Curious on how many times this has happen and you ninjas say you NEVER have time to look over every post. Im calling your bluff... its hilarious how you ninjas have time with lost. Dont get me wrong. Im not sticking up for what he expresses all the time. Im simply sticking up for the fact that this is (((harassment))from the ninjas and it need to stop.

  • Another idea; maybe put it on the persons profile that they are currently under a ban? Or maybe that would be a form of naming and shaming. I guess I just figured knowing someone was actually banned would prevent many of us from thinking people are still roaming free

Nice guide, but it isn't clear on what counts as disrespect or personal insults. CTRL + F does not yield any results for curse words or profanity, so, if someone were to say...for example..."Blam off" (a phrase that allegedly started this whole conversation) instead of "Tuddle off" or "go away", then he's not really breaking any rules because all three phrases mean the same thing, and if one is insulting, then all three are. Also, the rules also say that no one under the age of 13 can be a member of the forums. Everyone 13 and over curses on quite a regular basis, and saying "Blam off" would have 100% the same meaning to the teens, young adults, and not young adults who use these forums as would saying "go away". So, this begs the question...why are these forums being moderated at a ten year old, fifth grade level and why are the Ninjas expecting we use vocabulary at a fifth grade level? If profanity isn't allowed, then you need to rewrite the rules, because, they don't exist in the way they should.

  • So he can get insulted endlessly without anybody getting banned for that...? How is this right?

If Sols is getting insulted by whomever, why has Sols resorted to insulting back instead of reporting. I fail to see how a well mannered, respectable Guardian would have any trouble getting in contact with these Ninjas and working together to help stop the endless insults if they were affecting him so badly.

  •
So he can get insulted endlessly without anybody getting banned for that...?
Nope. Anyone insulting him would get punished assuming a Ninja saw the post, or it was reported.

  • The ninjas obviously saw the post if they banned him but not the ones insulting him.

  • Anybody that's been on one of Sols' posts can tell you that's a lie. He gets banned, but all through his post, people insult him personally, yet the Ninja(who had to have read the post to make sure it violated the CoC, right?) DOESN'T BAN ANYONE BUT SOLS!! People don't trust the Ninjas anymore, you need moderators for your moderators.

  • Can there please be a way to look at posts that are getting ninja'd? I have had many good conversations and happened to get shut down because of this.

  • Bump. I do agree that sone of the code is vague but over all just not personally attacking someone is the way to go. Providing a more comprehensive "ban ticket" would help the community see the justification. With the continuing issue of Bungie's lack of clarity (understandable to a degree), any aspect that it can be improved in how you guys interact with us would greatly improve community relations.

  • But isn't their a sense of personal bias? They did the same thing with the prison experiment. You gave ninjas power. With that you also gave them authority over others. Rules are rules but ninjas choose who they apply to. I.e. a ninja is on a hot topic thread that they feel some way about. Don't you think they (the ninja) would be more swayed to punish a person if they're on the opposite side of said issue? Meaning regardless of what the person said they can punish them via "because I can" instead of objectively adhering to the code and punishing anyone who breaks it regardless of how they feel about a person

  • Thank you Cozmo, the reasoning behind these suggestions is to help increase the relationship between Bungie and the fans. The fact is that moderators do not work when everything they do is clouded in secrecy. The fact is that rumours saying that Bungie are secretly pushing forward an agenda just to silence critics of the game via the moderators would not have started if we could actually know why that person was banned. Legends grow where secrets hide the truth, if people do not know the answer or it is difficult to find out exactly what happened then people will start to create legends and myths to explain it. Sometimes these legends are true, but others are just explanations based on a broken belief. A better explanation of why people get banned would go a long way to actually clear this mist, to actually remove any misplaced beliefs and give a proper explanation. And the clearing of rumours of Bungie silencing Critics, be they based in truth or not would go a long way to actually helping to bridge this rift between Bungie and the community.
