Lately I feel like everything can outgun a hand cannon, it's truly frustrating how the only one's that can keep up are the Hawkmoon, and The Last Word. Everything was fine until people complained about the Hawkmoon's range, I have no problem with The Last Word Nerf(don't really see the difference other than range fall off damage) or Thorn being left behind but why all hand cannons? I gotta say they where my favorite weapon class but now I can't really use them all that much.... Now their handling feel's wrong. (legendary 's of course not exotics) The problem lies when you're aiming at their head at mid-range but the shots register as body shots and then boom your dead leaving you wondering what just happened. I've had many instances when my friends would also ask me what just happened only to answer "Rng" that's what happened.
P.s. Never been a fan of The Last Word

It's just Bungie trying the same thing that worked so badly with Autorifles. One specific gun becomes too dominant (Suros Regime/Thorn) so the entire class gets nerfed into uselessness, instead of tackling the 'offending' gun directly, or making alternatives more desirable. Hawkmoon is still a solid choice, but it would've been nice if some of the legendary pistols were more viable.

Downvoted because "Never been a fan of The Last Word". Do you hate Christmas and happiness too?

It doesn't help the fact that handcannons need luck in the chamber to out gun pulse rifles. Seriously an entire arc type of pulse rifles are stuck at about .67ttk. No perks needed at all. Pretty much why i use hawkmoon only. Doesn't help when my aim is on the enemy but shots don't register.
-
I agree that hawkmoon was a mini sniper and it wrecked at mid range. But now the accuracy is crap I can land a few head shots but even then it feels like you get outgunned by any other gun.
-
Why? Because destiny caters to crybabies & those crybabies cried about handcannons being too op. So there ya go..
-
One of the main issues is that hand cannons now fall within shotgun range to effectively deal damage, and shot guns will always beat hand cannons because if you peddle back, your shots will miss as they have no accuracy. The only gun I have found to still hit people at range is the first curse, but the first curse needs 3 headshots which doesn't make it competitive against guns that can two burst or have a higher rate of fire. The close to mid range is far too clustered at the moment, and everybody wants to use versatile guns so that's why pulses reign supreme. They work at close to long rage. The problem is that I can see this community getting pulses nerfed into the ground as everybody cries about Bad Juju or Red Death even though they require accurate bursts as opposed to spraying with an auto rifle which everybody loves for some unknown reason. I feel that if hand cannons were the way they were previously then they would not dominate the meta at all, in fact we would have closer 'balance'. A thorn in its current state with the previous range ability would actually be fun in my opinion. TLW was quite OP, but now it's under powered. Most people with brain predicted this, and I'm kind of getting sick of it.

Edited by Gwektro: 10/29/2015 11:11:49 AMThorn & TLW were the big problems from the Y1 HC "meta" lel. Legendary ones didnt deserve the hit they got, now they feel extremely wimpy compared to anything else. PvP team is incompetent, they dont know what to do it seems like. So they just destroy one type of weapon while they give another type a god like buff. Pulse rifles were already good before TTK, but since they destroyed HC's, they are now superior.

It only feels that way because everyone in the crucible is using a pulse rifle. It's like trying to run a scout against Thorn and TLW in year 1.
-
Eyasluna from crucible is pretty decent. It's like a baby hawkmoon.
-
Try Ace of Spades. Only primary I can stand in crucible at the moment
-
My thoughts: Increase base HC ammo capacity by 25% Increase base HC ads speed by 10%. Decrease bullet spread by 5% Decrease rapid fire penalty by 10%
-
To me, the handling feels about the same. It's the accuracy I'm having issues with. It feels like if I aim for the head, I hit them in the shoulder or just miss completely. It feels like that with pretty much every hand cannon except hawkmoon and ace of spades.
-
The Judith-D from armsday this morning has army of one kills quickens reload and explosive rounds. This thing melts enemies and turns them into grenades! Great gun, so much fun to use. Just so quick and hits hard. It isn't the best gun to look at but this thing is a beast. I feel bad for anyone who didn't pick it up!! Hopefully you did. Just feels good!
-
As someone stuck with Imprecation right now, I'm really getting frustrated with users of other weapons. Can't even land an assist with this damn thing, let alone a precision kill.
-
Now you feel the pain that autorifles users felt. FEEL THE PAIN! jk hahah but no i was pissed when autorifles were nerfed back then.
-
Have no Fear! Destiny the Game is here!! Hand cannons now fit into their designated Role as the close to Mid primary. Sounds like you need to find a higher range Cannon. Eyasluna is LITERALLY The "Baby Hawkmoon", but you have to rely on RNG rolls like you said. Good things will come to you. Just keep on playing! ;)
-
It's the pulse rifles turn, adapt
-
Hawkmoon still two shots everything
-
The last word was the best then, and believe it or not, is the best now too.
-
Hand cannons were my favorite pre TTK. Very solid guns. And no, not a thorn or last word user. I wish hand cannons would go back to the way they were. I love scout rifles now, but those can be hard to use against auto rifles at close range, and pulse dominate.
-
Ace of Spades is currently my favorite new handcannon. I used it in crucible and outgunned just about everything I encountered in a game of rumble.
-
Judith is my babe
-
What? Why...?
-
Ace of Spades is a beast.
-
The only changes I feel like they need are an accuracy and reserve ammo buff. Then again, I'm a scout rifle guy, so its just an opinion.
