While I sorta agree, but I would rather just have the ability to keep my Y1 stuff and upgrade them. After all, they apologized for not allowing them to be upgraded after the first DLC, and fixed it for the second DLC, then they changed their minds for TTK. Well that tells me that they only apologized to appease people and not because they actually meant it,.

  • THIS man speaks the truth! Rather than let Year 1 items become useless relics and minor trophies you may use occasional in standard crucible, let year 1 gear become etched into the history of destiny. Let them become exclusive items for Year 1 players, and let them ascend them to match year 2 weapons. Let year 1 players know their hard work was not in vain, and allow it to be rewarded with a prize worthy of our efforts. Each year of Destiny can create their own generation of weapons that will become LEGENDARY in the minds of the players who used them. This will only encourage more people to get into the game sooner (rather than wait until there is another Destiny + DLC bundle offered at a cheaper rate) because they will want to earn gear that will eventually become exclusive. This is a no brainer Bungie! It'll make the players happy and it will encourage more people to get in the game sooner AND encourage more people to come back and play! EVERYONE wins!

  • Thanks man. I don't care who gets credit for this idea, but whenever we see an opportunity to, lets push this idea to the forefront and hope that bungie can pull their heads out of the darkness that is Activision's back-side long enough to see the light! Destiny's catch phrase is "become legend." Allow us to carve out our own legends through the gear we get. By year 5-10, our Year 1 weapons should have a legacy carved out by our own hands, with our own blood, sweat, and tears with the very weapons that helped us conquer Year 1 challenges. Imagine a year 6 player encountering a true Destiny Vet. They will see the sheer destruction reaped by our Fatebringers and Blackhammers. They will be awestruck. They will want to know where we got those weapons. And the answer will be simple. "You can't. These are weapons which were only available in year 1. We conquered the Vault in all its wonder before any of us were level 30. We faced down the God-prince of the hive without Gallahorns and still emerged victorious. These weapons are a part of OUR lore. OUR legend. But do not fret. YOU still have the time to carve out your own legend with the instruments of war now before you." In this way, year 1 weapons could add to the lore of Year 1 players. And they do not when they are made obsolete.
