He is actually a conglomeration of all species we know. Before coming here, Oryx studied our solar system and all creatures that inhabited it. Then, he created Golgoroth using the DNA from each species, to make him more powerful so that he be a more efficient guard to Oryx. He appears [i]mostly[/i] Hive since Oryx made him in the image of his species, but shows characteristics of each because, well, technically he is. Hope that answered your question!
