Are you tracking any in game quests? You can track quests from your quest inventory. Also, note that by starting up anything other than patrol it already has a mission ready for you. If you start up any story or quest mission it will force you to do the quest unless going to orbit

So, you have to spawn in from the patrol to otherwise you will replay the story mission? Did I get that correctly?

Yessir! Patrol is for free roaming the area and finding some hidden treasures within, or doing patrol missions.
