Help!!!
All of the sudden my Xbox is lagging like hell. It's like trying to run a game that's really good on a -blam!- computer. I have a non-release Xbox (so no the thompson drive is not a culprit) and I have never experienced any problems before today.

In the software industry, you upgrade when better, faster programs become available. The need to upgrade is not a design flaw. Unless you're talking about Xbox specifically, which you're theory holds even [i]less[/i] water. A world in which everyone buy replacement consoles would be a fiscal nightmare. The Xbox is sold as a loss leader, the money is made on the software. It's in Microsoft's best interests that you never have to replace your Xbox. When you eventually buy an Xbox 360, Ms will lose money on that too, and make it back on the games, all in the name of market dominance. It's simple economics. [Edited on 6/2/2005]
