Ghost shells - is the low drop rate intended?
I've been stuck at 286 on my ghost shell for the past 2/3 weeks, with nothing dropping any higher. I cant be the only person with this issue. All my other gear is 290+, except my ghost :S
The problem seems to be that ghosts are not dropping anywhere near as often as the other loot drops in the game. I rarely see any drop; Court of Oryx, Strikes, Crucible, even the raid - you name it I've played it for hours with no ghost drops. If I do get one (once a day, if that) then its always lower than 286! This cant be right can it?
Luke Smith posted on NeoGaf that he would look into ghost shells when he was back in the office a few days ago; I dont know if he only meant raid ghost shells or shells in general. Any further news on this?

Destiny's horrible rng is working as intended.I was the only one on my fireteam that didn't get the raid ghost shell. ..a fact further proven by my 10th hawkmoon a few min ago

the problem is partly that they only drop from bosses (or there loot chest) and on end of run screens with no engram chance that i have seen much less roll chances = less seen

I get the kingslayer shell all the time, at least 4 or 5 so far. I'll give you my next one

Edited by Mr Ben: 10/9/2015 9:57:58 PMUpdate: Did court of Oryx as I had too many runes taking up inventory space, and low and behold got a 297 ghost. So I'm up to 295 on my Vanguard Ghost finally. Friends of mine have said that they've had equal success today/this evening on drops, so there may be something in it. Hot fix perhaps? Who knows.

Same problem with ghost shells. I havent got the raid shell either. I get guns but cant get the dam shell lol

I'm having the same problem I can't get a ghost over my current I think 287. Trying for the raid ghost that would put me at 300 light I think

6 RepliesI have yet to see a ghost above 283. I've done countless courts and have seen only 2 ghost drop. One at 265 and the other was 283. I had to buy the 280 from the vanguard as I couldn't get one higher. While the ghost may be the hardest drop I've encountered, the drops in general have been extremely subpar once you hit the 290 light. I have leveled my cryptarch twice last week and aside from a couple 285's, you can bet with utmost assuradness that not one will be over 275 with 99% being from 260-265 light. It was my understanding that the drops would be more akin to your light level...not so in any way. I've attempted the vanguard streak that supposedly increases the strength of the drops...nope..unless you are talking from 263 on the first drop to 268 by the 10th. I am extremely disappointed in the drops more so than I was running VOG back in the day. Wearing your best gear means nothing when decrypting after reaching 290. The light drops dropped significantly at that point and can only be considered intentional to increase time in game aka the grind.

Update: Still stuck at 286. No higher ghost drops at all. Really think Bungie should be looking into this. Ghost Shells seem to have a far lower drop rate than anything. Blue Ghost Shells drop less than legendaries now, and that feels broken.

9 RepliesThey drop allot on the court. Do you start it yourself? You get the most rewards from it. Start a tier 3 one, has higher items that drop from it. Like everything in this game, its random. The onley way ur supossed to get 300+ is by doing raids.

I've looted 3 kingslayer ghost shells this week, drop rates are fine.

I have only found like 6 ghost shells, one from dead orbit, one to infuse up to 290. And the 4 at 260 :/ took me for ever!!

I got a 288 blue from crucible, the day after I bought a 280 from warlock vendor. I have been wondering as well though, why do they never drop
