Im not 100% sure , but these rune Symbols look like the ones when i destroyed my good old Black Hammer. (When i dismanteld it i got a paper with rune symbols on it and u can change it 4 rep @ Eris. )

Good idea but If played a vital role I don't think Bungie would give us an option to sell it for poor Eris rep. I could be wrong though. Never know

The runestone was a hint towards the location of the black spindle. The runes matched the runes on the door in the lost to light mission where it's found. So that clue has been used, it wont' be a clue again.
