Re: Xur this week - Why sell a Legacy Heavy Engram for 31 strange coins?

I did it, I took the bait...I didn't read carefully enough and I bought the Legacy Heavy Weapon Engram from Xur. I really want a refund...31 strange coins for that mistake is way too steep. After seeing no weapons sold by Xur and seeing the Engram, I figured it only made sense - you don't know what you're buying, but it'll be something you can use. Wrong! Instead, I spend 31 of my hard earned coins on a Dragons Breath of which I already had 2 and sharded them at the expansion because they don't do anything for me now. Can I please have a refund? A bigger question is, why do you even offer it? And especially at 31 strange coins? It hurts...that's what I'm saying...it hurts. Somebody somewhere at Bungie is laughing at my expense.

  • I agree that at a casual glance the description is a little ambiguous, however I also think it's a great addition to Xur's inventory. Not every Destiny player has upgraded to TTK for one reason or another. The legacy engrams are now the only way for non TTK players to get Exotics

  • My favorite part of this is the fact that the Legacy Engram was announced way before it dropped the first time Xur came after TTK dropped. And the forums exploded with complaints from people who didn't read the update. Then it happened again the very next week. There is a search function on Bungie.net. Your post is a repeat of the hundreds of other posts about this. Searching the forums would have prevented this repeat post... I'm not trying to be rude here, please don't take it that way. I'm trying to help--people with actual issues. The fact is these posts jump to the top of the #Help forum when you post them and make us finding actual issues that much harder. /Rant, now here's what you need to know: A. The Legacy Engram only drops Year One gear. It is specifically designed for collectors who want to finish their Y1 collections. B. The RNG is weighted towards things you don't already have (though it's still RNG, as you experienced). C. If the gear you get has a Year 2 version, you have unlocked the blueprint for it. D. We all agree that 31 SC is ridiculously expensive!

  • The only thing I agree with is that 31 coins is a little too much... Other than that it is what it is... No refunds... Take it and move on and learn from the mistake

    1. They have stated before that Xur will sell Legacy Engrams and these are Year 1 gear only. 2. They also stated that Xur will switch between selling a specific gun and selling the Legacy Engram. 3. Bungie cannot restore items. That includes refunding your strange coins for a mistake. 4. Its offered for completionists. Some players want to fill their entire exoitc collection, they can purchase these engrams to get Year 1 gear and fill their collection. -Plus if the exotic has a Year 2 version then it is automatically discovered and the player can buy the Year 2 version from the blueprints. Edit:
Lastly, Xûr will also choose a Legacy Engram every week. These Engrams contain Year One Exotics (at Year One Attack and Defense levels) for players who want to finish up a Collection. They strongly bias towards Exotics not already in your Blueprint Collection, to help fill in the blank slots - excluding Mythoclast and Necrochasm, which are still only available from their Year One sources.
https://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---09172015/en/News/News?aid=13575

  • It was in the weekly update before the first TTK appearance if Xur. They are to allow people to complete their year one exotic collections. When they are released later in year two they will have the year two blueprint.

  • Legacy engrams are meant for players who haven't completed their year 1 weapon collections yet. Bungie will not refund you your coins.
