I'm a little confused by your post. Yes, you can only wear one exotic armor piece and and only use one exotic weapon at a time. It's always been like that. You say you're a year one player, so I'm not sure why you type that up like its a new mechanic. At what point in year one did you start? Not bashing, just a little surprised a year one player didn't already realize that. Unless you've literally never owned more than one exotic before now. Anyway, each exotic serves a different purpose. Several give you free perks for your subclass or things your class can't normally do, like carry more than one grenade or melee charge. And I'm sure you've already noticed they add to your Grimoire score when you get them. Some people like them for collection purposes of nothing else. So it's not a waste buying a new exotic from Xur. EDIT: after looking through your Grimoire, I realize you indeed haven't gotten more than one exotic weapon before this point. So that explains why you didn't realize the only-one mechanic has been in place. So yeah, one exotic weapon and one exotic armor at a time, but you can switch them around to suit play style and mood.

  • Forget the negativity bro. Though I will.explain its.great to.habe more than one exotic depending on the situation or even game mode. Like st 14 for a titan defender in pve or the armamentarium in pvp. Or tlw for pvp and ice breaker for pve. Every exotic is a unique gem in any situation. And not to mention the collectors out there.

I was pretty low level when year 2 came around, because for some reason I just wasn't really that interested before. I know it's pretty shocking that I'm ill informed, and I do apologize... But I really don't like how people hate on me for being a little behind. (you aren't hating, and I appreciate that). I just wanted to share with others who may not know, because it kind of sucks when you find out.

  • Nah. No need to apologize. I was just surprised is all. Hope I didn't come across rude. I'd try to get an exotic primary as soon as possible. They tend to be very useful. I believe Thorn has a Year Two version. I saw that in your Grimoire so you can pick up the Y2 from the kiosk by the Vanguard (125 Marks), if yours is the Y1 version. Armor is trickier, as it tends to benefit one subclass more than others. So you'll probably want a couple different ones. This week's Immolation Grips would be an excellent choice for your Titan. The "Accelerant" perk will grant the Explosive Pyre perk to your Hammer of Sol on top of whatever other perk you select from that tree. That's double bonuses! Insurmountable Skullfort grants free Transfusion for Striker and an extra melee charge for any subclass. No Backup Plans enhances your Disintegrate shield for Defender.

  • I got rid of it apparently. Must of been before I realized you could upgrade then. You've been very helpful. Thank you.

You're welcome. But you can't upgrade it directly. If you go to the Vanguard room there will be a kiosk for exotic weapons (shows a picture of a sword) by the entrance. If you access it, you can buy the Year Two version of any exotic weapon you've found already. It should cost 125 Marks, 1 Exotic Shard, and however much Glimmer. You'll have to unlock the perks, but it will start at 280 attack. You can actually buy as many as you want from the kiosk once you unlock it. So never buy more than one copy of a weapon from Xûr unless you just have extra coins. There are also Year Two versions for several classic exotic armors as well.

  • I also don't have 125 Legendary yet, and um kind of saving them for a new Titan mark... I hate mine.

  • Don't throw out legendaries and exotics, they can be infused with rares to make them stronger. So if you have a 190 exotic and then find a 205 blue, use the blue to strengthen the exotic.

  • They probably should have included a short tutorial on infusion. Another tip: if you have a 190 weapon you want to improve, and a 220 and a 240 you want to use for infusion — use the 220 first. If you you go straight for the 240, it won't end up as high as if you use the 220 first and then the 240.

  • That should be a Year Two version then. It can be infused to raise the attack value. You can still buy it back from the kiosk if you no longer have it.
