Posted by: kd5shw
Posted by: GothGuy
Posted by: Grindstone Oh well. Group hug, anyone?
No. ... Just - No.
Aww someone needs a hug. Group hug everyone!
Oh God - it's just like that day two years ago.... I was 16 and visiting the Big Apple. I thought I should see a braodway show, so I'd take in the whole experience. I got premium tickets for "Cats"; front row seats and a chance to meet the actors after the show. The show was electrifying - save for RumtumTugger shaking his hips.... Little did I know that was a sign. After the show I went to the back to meet the actors, but when I arrived they had all gotten drunk. They all started to hug me...simple...then they threw me on the ground and.... I was raped by Mr. Mistafilees. Sinse then, I went Goth and started hateing hugs.

Gears of War for the Xbox 360 was a good damn demo. So if anything has failed me it was Sony. Go to the Sony forums right now and you'll hear their OWN community pretty much diss "the father of playstation". They didn't say the Xbox was better or anything. They just were upset that they were lied to. When the PS2 came out, Sony promised quote " Toy Story" graphics, but it was loaded with tiny jaggies and not close to Toy Story graphics at all. What I did like though was the L.O.D. demo for the ps3 ( Lots of ducks. ) It was kinda nice to see the physics working well. So I'm going to disagree a tiny bit with that article. Xbox 360 hasn't promised anything like it'll make me reach nirvana and release good chemicals into my body that make me ultra powerful. And Sony's PS3s graphics will be good no matter what because nVidia does *not* slack in terms of making graphics. 360s goal- Sell 1 billion units. PS3s goal- Become the next media center and do good with 1080p Revolutions goal- . .. . . revolutionize? I don't know. But I noticed one thing about Sony. When they see a threat they attack it. Xbox was a threat. They attacked it. Xbox 360 must be a threat because Kutaragi called the Xbox360 a basic Xbox 1.5 and started making comparisons right off the bat. What an arrogant lying jerk. (especially when he promised me Toy story graphics) I was a little err'd by his comment because for one I was positive that I had turned into a Sony fan, but thinking back he never really messed with the Gamecube or the Revolution-probably because *no* one sees Nintendo as a threat at all. So I cant say who I like more at this point. So I'll just go with both. If Sony didn't have nVidia I would absolutely not buy their PS3, and if the Xbox 360 didn't have a playable demo ( and they did ) I would lose faith in them. It's going to be close. But instead of whining of which thing is better.....we better start saving, slaving, being nice to people that have a lot of money and save some more. ..My wallet ;_;

Anything that is over-hyped will always wind up at least a minor dissapointment. It gets your expectations built up to the point where the only place to go is down. Thats why I can't say i've seen a movie thats lived up to my expectations in quite awhile. (Besides Ep. III... but that kind of proves my point.) We're bombarded with how great a certain movie is then when we go see it, it may be a good movie. But rarely if ever do they live up to all the hype. My point about Ep. III was unlike the last 2 I didn't expect much this time. So when it turned out to be good I was really surprised. (I didn't listen to the hype.) So basically i'm saying I agree with that article. We aren't going to get all those amazing things we've been promised. And anyone who expects the games to look like some of the clips we've seen needs there head examined. In the end they'll both be good systems with good games. (With XBox slightly ahead... sorry... I had to throw it in. Fine i'm a fanboy...) But they aren't going to be as graphically impressive as what we saw. (Besides... gameplay is way more important than good graphics.) In conclusion... power to the people, hack the planet, live long and prosper... and free willie... I think I need sleep...

Geez Ben, I was hoping that you were suggesting a group hug, not a CNN article. Unfortunately, I do not see an end to this fanboi-itis (well put, BTW). The Xbox/PS2 war didn't subside until late last year (for the most part). I see this new fanboi war going on for the next 4-5 years. Oh well. Group hug, anyone?

Ben,I'm to lazy to read it,so just give me the gist of it.
-
"Look! Look!! Now you've got to buy our new machine!" before laughing maniacally and rushing off to roll around in their piles of cash. that's great.
-
The Xbox 360 specs are going to be pretty close to what they have said they are you know since it will start selling in like 6 months. Then take 1-2 months to manufacture enough to put on selves so that leaves like 4 months to finalize the hardware and such which isn’t that long at all.
-
XBox360 is way better than PS3 hands down, trust me I know.......
-
I doubt it'll douse any fanboiism, for fanbois are called "fanbois" because they won't hear anything bad about what they're fanbois of.

Good call. But how is this any different than the majority of popular media in the first place? They always leave us wanting more, because then we'll have to just buy more. And by the way, i particularly loved the final quote:
But as Sony talks of users using the PS3's optional high-def camera to launch their own broadcasts and Microsoft discusses non-gamers hopping onto Xbox Live to sell shirts or skateboards they've created for the latest "Tony Hawk" game, take it with a grain of salt. Better yet, grab a big shaker and begin pouring liberally.
